I just watched another episode and I knew more than their jewellery 'expert' about the stones! I couldn't believe it when they said that because of no hallmarks they'd put an Edwardian piece into auction as 'yellow metal' when plenty of places (even pawnbrokers) have a laser device they use to tell the purity of the metal without having to scrape some off to test.

I can believe it. Nothing surprises me about that channel any more.
