I've been looking at the webpages of some of the other channels, specifically Rocks & Co, Gems TV and Rocks TV, and am very interested in some of their more unusual gems. But I am completely unsure what their quality is, how it relates to that offered by QVC. Can anyone with experience help me?
Also what is their customer service like?

I have put this thread here, because QVC is the only place I have bought gems and that level of quality/value/service is something I can gauge.
Thanks!

The gold weight is usually quite low on QVC jewellery unless stated as in certain gold chains/bracelets. It's really a hit or a miss if you get a ring with decent weight. As to the gems, I learned very quickly that gems are quite small with accent diamonds of poor quality and size. I have had some gorgeous topaz earrings most recently at a 'one time only price' but that was quite a while ago. I buy most of my gem set jewellery from The Jewellery Channel where I am told gold weight, quality of diamonds and have had some beautiful large gem stones. It is a dedicated jewellery channel after all, but for plain gold, silver jewellery I buy quite regularly from QVC but very rarely gem set rings, (not counting semi-precious stones and Lola Rose, which I love). Their more unusual gems such as paraiba tourmaline and coloured sapphire are way over priced. As for their emeralds and ruby...yuk! HTH, Nicky-j.

I've only really bought tocantin garnet and morganite from QVC recently and was pleased with them. But you think the Jewellery Channel, Rocks & Co, Rocks Etc and Gems tv would be a good to try?

I have no experience of TJC having not purchased from them, though i do watch now and again, but I have bought from Gems,Rocks and Co and Rocks.tv.

TJC and Rocks.tv give you a 30day mbg like QVC,though from what i have read the CS at TJC is questionable, however the CS at Rocks.tv is fantastic imo.

Gems and Rocks and Co give a 10 day mbg,I have sent items back from both of these(they did not suit) and have usually received a refund pretty promptly.

the items I have bought from Gems,Rocks and Co that I have kept i like very much but i do my main jewellery buying at Rocks.tv because of the value and service.I have sometimes bought things from Rocks.tv that did not live up to expectation but I have kept way more than I have returned.

The thing i like about the jewellery channels is that you can get a good breakdown of what exactly you are buying including goldweight(qvc do not mention this which puts me off a little).

Rocks and co are often very lightweight in the gold dept imo and fairly pricey.
Gems are not as good value as they used to be though decent prices can be found in the clearance and web auctions if you have a good trawl through.
Rocks.tv is my channel of choice the majority of the time.

This is my experience anyway :)

Channel hopping

One big advantage to QVC is getting the right ring size and occasionally they have stud earrings at good prices (morganite, diopside, apatite) but it's important to watch all of the channels and get a feel for prices and value etc. I like TJC for tanzanite and diamonds and wouldn't go anywhere else. Gems are still good for a range of gemstones and Rocks and Co are also great, but for slightly more traditional jewellery. I preferred Rocks and Co on Channel 49 but hey ho - there is always the internet.

Thank you everyone for your inputs!
I'm lucky in that I noticed that a lot of the sizes sent out are an N - and I am a small O, so might well not have to re-size rings!
I'll let you know how I get on when I can decide on what to start with!
Looking for something unusual and a bit blingy, but everyday-ish. Mind you, I rarely do subtle!

A point well made re the sizing issue:22:

Yes.....Gems,R&C and Rocks supply rings in size N,TJC in size O.......I am lucky as that is my ring finger size.

I also agree that the diamonds and tanzy on TJC seems the best quality too and if I was looking for that kind of piece I would seriously consider them.

My budget is meagre however lol

Well as I said in a previous thread I am in the process of returning a "diamond" pendant from QVC which is far from perfect as the diamonds are very dull and lifeless.

The delivery on Bid Up etc, is miles better than QVC, never had to wait more than 3 days for stuff I've ordered of their website. And they send me an email 1-2 days before delivery.:35: Note to QVC: Some of us have a little thing called a life, and can't be waiting up to a week for deliveries!:58:

QVC delivery usually within 5-7 working days! I wish, more like 7-8 working days!

I usally find jewllery from QVC comes within 3-5 days. Other stuff longer.

Have to echo Sweetpea's comments. I did used to buy jewellery from QVC and was always pleased with it and thought it good value. Then I discovered GemsTV, and bought loads from them. I've had a few things from TJC, and seem to be one of the few on here that hasn't really had any problems with CS, but don't buy their rings as they're too big for me and I don't do resizing. The prices of their large tanzanite pieces seem very good when compared to the outrageous prices of QVC, TJC give you diamond grades on their Iliana pieces too.

Just lately I've bought a lot of jewellery from Rocks.TV (on the net), and been very pleased with it. They also give you gold weights, carat weight, and in some cases diamond grades. They have some very unusual pieces at great prices, and their customer service is second to none - absolutely NO quibbles whatsoever if you wish to return an item that doesn't suit, so you can buy with complete confidence.

It really depends whether you want lots of everyday, great value jewellery, or if you want just one of two higher priced items.

:doggie:

I've just plunged in with a purchase from Rocks TV - well their website Colouredrocks.com at any rate. I'm trying a ametrine ring in white gold since I've always been fascinated by ametrines since I saw a picture of one when I was very little and you rarely see them in shops! They have only one on QVC in a setting I don't like, a smaller stone and at twice the price. I'll let you know what I think.
Thanks all for your assistance.
