We all like mucky
Thanks for your continued posting here. For me, if an item is cheap and cheerful then say so. Certain presenters, when selling a cheap handbag, try to compare it to "that famous brand that sells for over a thousand pounds" implying Mulberry. They obviously don't say Mulberry but allude to it. Even if the style is similar the quality will be totally inferior. However selling it as an extra handbag that won't break the bank and will look great on a night out is perfectly acceptable. Just an example as I don't know what you're selling.Thank you guys for the support, I did mention the forum and I will again on Xmas day when I’m on.
Everyone approached things differently and for me - I think it’s important to acknowledge as there is a large community here that watch the channel.
I have to say - as fun as tonight was it is hard work to keep the energy up and keep everything fresh and new. Joe was great as there is an art to doing that for 4 hours straight .
For me - it’s trying to find a balance of talking to new customers that are switching over and looking what is selling but also being aware of regular viewers who are watching / buying and engaging with them as well.
But I had fun - and as a member of this forum it’s been nice to step out tonight and then on Xmas day to have a go as being front of house at the shop! Some items are better than others, everything can’t be fantastic / amazing so it’s just finding the right balance from what people will want and not want.
One of My favourite items was the wooden tea light holder!! My other half didn’t like it at all! .
Anyway - Xmas day we are live so I will be saying hello again and merry xmas. I take on board any feedback above as well and some I will disagree with, other bits will help me in the future.
Thanks for the banter, Captain Knowles will live to fight another day out of the trenches! Then it’s back to pillows, mattresses and bedding for me. Cheers everyone.
I think I’ll start the show with that quote! .Thanks for your continued posting here. For me, if an item is cheap and cheerful then say so. I generally try to buy better quality clothes but I have bought a few items in Primark (sweatshirts, jogging bottoms and hooded jackets) and know exactly what I'm getting. In fact, a lot of Primark homeware is excellent and so cheap. I'm not a shopping snob (even though I have a couple of expensive handbags!).
Its when presenters insult our intelligence that I do the middle aged shouting at the TV routine (trust me, nobody wants to see that, its not a pretty sight...).
Anyway, good luck tomorrow, I will dip in occasionally to see what you're selling in between watching White Christmas or The Sound of Music on DVD and trying not to eat too many Lindt truffles (Quality Street is sooo not good enough for my tastes).
To prepare yourself just remember Henry V's rousing speech to his troops before the battle of Agincourt "once more unto the breach dear friends", that should get you in the right frame of mind!
I enjoyed your stint with Joe last night. Was popping in and out over the evening. Nice to see some different faces presenting. Hope you have fun tomorrow! Merry Christmas!I think I’ll start the show with that quote! .
Tomorrow will be fun and I hope a bit entertaining which is what it should be on Xmas day. I will look ridiculous in a Santa Claus suit but I have seen some cheap and cheerful items that we are clearing so hopefully a fun show and some interaction with those that are watching. I’m conscious that most people will be with family and having Xmas dinner anyway but I know that there will be some people flicking through and not with family or particularly celebrating Xmas so if we can entertain them even for 5 minutes as they are flicking through - I’m happy with that! .
Enjoy your Xmases - I was asked last night, what about your kids at Xmas?…I think they are all happy to get rid of me for the day for a few hours
Im off with them between Xmas and New year so looking forward to that break.
Thanks for the support last night (and criticism) all taken on board and appreciated.
Merry Christmas to you too Jazzy. I do a lot before Christmas but the day itself is quiet for me these days so I may dip in here as well, it may just be us two! I'm having lunch with a friend today which will be nice and we may have a glass (or two) of ProseccoI know the thought of a Shopping Channel being live on a Xmas Day sounds nuts, but as long as the presenters arent being forced to work on Xmas Day.
Those who haven’t got anybody, it will be nice for some normality, But it’s simular to why ITV air things like This Morning on Xmas Day.
As for the regulars on here hope you all have a Good Christmas, Quiet one here, so will probably be on here on and off tomorrow
Thank you. Duke. Your posts, and your wicked sense of humour have really cheered me up, and made me laugh out loud. Long may it continue. I hope you and your partner have a very Happy Christmas.I think I probably am going to be banned from watching shopping television over the next two or three days. I just wanted to wish everybody a Happy Christmas and New Year. My partner and I live in separate houses and I have to be honest and say that when I am alone, albeit with the dogs, I can get pretty low at times. Posting and reading here, and feeling on this particular forum, a strong sense of camaraderie is a great emotional help when I do feel not at my best. Thank you to everybody, again, for creating that sort of environment.
Merry Christmas Alex. keep up the good workI think I’ll start the show with that quote! .

I think there is a grand misconception with the people who own these businesses, that the set in their ways, horrendously out of date in approach, main presenters option continues to be key still to shifting stock. I think they should have a think on that. Knowles and Remblance and somebody like a Heather character could replace the three big guns overnight, and as a result, they wouldn’t need to sell any air fresheners from then on.Trouble is the presenters are set in there ways.
IW Relaunch was a opportunity to have a really fresh start, but no they just employed the same presenters who are rotten
