His GYM CARD??? Last time he was on with Becque he said he’d never used a gym. I NEVER LIE TO YOU…
I heard Yiannis say one day that he had a £170 per month gym membership. He was flogging a flimsy 10 quid piece of exercise equipment and unbelievably claimed that it would do the same job as all the equipment and facilities in his gym. 😄😄😀

What used to make it special was the relative briefness of it, with at least some elements of a Christian feel to a Pagan festival. I remember bugging my mum to get the Christmas TV Times and Radio Times when it used to come out around about the second week of December. There was a genuine sense of excitement to look what programmes were on, and particularly the big films. I think from memory you had to wait at least a couple of years from cinema release before a top film would appear on television, and that’s what used to happen at Christmas. Nowadays everything can be accessed virtually immediately – films, music etc. Plus, as I have said previously, it is the length of time devoted now to Christmas, with people putting their decorations up a month or two even before the big day. But in general, not making the effort to keep them up until 12th Night, which is what many of us used to do. Obviously, like most human beings, you want to stay alive, and there are still enough beautiful things in the world to make that worthwhile. But there are many changes to society that at 62, I have seen and wish I hadn’t.
Always used to look forward to watching excerpts from Disney Films. Nearly every year The African Queen with Humphrey Bogart was on. Dad always said we’ve seen this before and changed the station (well me or my sister did as no remote controls in those day). To this day I’ve not watched it as I think Dad must have seen it in the pictures when it was first released.

And that was when you had to buy both the Radio Times and TV Times because BBC and ITV were listed separately, I can remember the excitement. And later on when there were more channels and we had a video I would go through it with a highlighter pen. Always bought blank video tapes before Christmas.

For me it's not been the same since my mum passed away in 2017 (she loved this forum by the way). Mum and I went to Christmas concerts and saw all the lights in the West End and the tree in Trafalgar Square. I still do suff but it not the same. We always watched an old film on Christmas Day in the afternoon like White Christmas or Holiday Inn. Always saw a concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Christmas Eve and after walked to Kensington High Street station and the area was packed with stressed shoppers and we were totally chilled out. Happy memories.

One thing I like to do now on Christmas Day is watch a couple of Morecambe and Wise Christmas shows, I've got them on DVD. Proper Christmas entertainment for me😊
