Now THAT’s a song.
Frank with Nelson Riddle’s arrangements, I think (I used to think it was Gordon Jenkins, but I found the CD in a box a couple of years back, and it was Nelson).
Beautiful. No one ever came close to Frank on top form.
Nelson Riddle's arrangements of Sinatra songs are brilliant. My favourite is I've Got You Under My Skin, the way it gets louder and builds up to the brass section going crazy! I've heard current big bands play that arrangement and it's amazing hearing it live. I also like Billy May's arrangement on Come Fly With Me

I hadn't realised that Wee Small Hours was arranged by Nelson Riddle, its not the style I associate him with.

I like a lot of stuff from that era. Ella Fitzgerald (my favourite), Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Sarah Vaughan. Haven't listened to Sinatra for a while, I need to rectify that.

I only managed a minute or two of Loghorn Feghorn’s show this morning…..A pity really, as Chef Mark’s new cookbook looks good for adding to my surplus tyres collection - particularly the one around my middle…

Big Ella fan here. Mainly thanks to Mum’s 78s..
My favourite Ella song…

My mum said that one of her earliest memories was listening to A Tisket A Tasket, probably around 3 years of age. We always had music growing up, mum into jazz, big band and swing, dad into country. I'm really into big bands and there's a few good bands that I see regularly. Cadogan Hall in Chelsea has loads of great jazz shows and often around £30.

My favourite Ella is the live version of Mack The Knife in Berlin where she forgot the words and improvised. Brilliant!

What a miserable decorations and cards free space that studio is. One Santa cheap and nasty figure in the corner, and the tree, which is usually totally hidden by the pricing info. So few Christmas type goods, too. You think they’d have some spotty oik from the Gallery writing out Christmas cards from viewers to hang on that MDF panelling behind the presenter.

Mum’s Ella album. Played to buggery, it was.

We usually go to Cadogan Hall every Christmas, but decided to go to the Royal Albert Hall this year.
