Rob: “The brand name is rubbish.” Gammon he refers to. Honest seller. What an absolute breath of retail fresh air this bloke is.

I saw Rob selling the individual Gammon sets at the weekend and it was a comparative masterclass in honest, down to earth selling. It shouldn't be such an exception to see a presenter talk to viewers as though they're capable of independent thought, rather than talk at them because you think they hang on your every word and command…

You also notice, particularly with Rob, there’s none of this constant ‘customer’ name reeling out, and certainly none of the Hammy and other forum users names being read out as texting in. It is either he has none of those kids’ in the Gallery games (which in particular, Simon seems to encourage), or he gets more mature individuals in his ear at the times he is working. I thought the forum names using (and the seedy context of some of it) was completely out of hand last night. Also, they are using these names and personas as people praising goods and saying they’ve purchased them. If correct ( i.e. if Hammy and Muttley are not made up) using fake customer endorsements of goods doesn’t seem a very professional selling tool. As the Professor has said in some of his contributions - doing this has a sinister aire to it. Like the forum is constantly being read and they are ‘firing back’ the banter in that particular way. Again, when good sellers like Rob and several others are on, people tend to be nothing but positive about their shows. A lesson for some of the others there to take on board, methinks.

Just tuned in for 5 minutes. I cannot watch Lindsay Gunderson because she never stops screeching at the camera. She just chats a load of nonsense and waves her arms around like an aircraft marshaller.
I only bring items to air that I believe in. Yeah, sure you do, Lindsey. I don't believe any freelance presenters are really in a position to pick and choose what they sell. I would have thought the price and items to be sold are decided behind the scenes, and the presenters are just here to make sales by any means possible.
The ever delightful Miss Gunderson once spent an illuminating five minutes of her shift explaining exactly that to the viewers back when she was on the TJC main channel.

She made it abundantly clear that she was a freelance presenter, her main job was being an auctioneer, and that she had no say in anything regarding the products she brought to air.

Which was very interesting when other TJC presenters, such as Chloe Marshall and Mark Gould, like to pretend that they pick most of what they present. And are always declaring that they always argue with buyers and managers to get amazing prices for the viewers.

Load of tosh and their egos are so big they believe it. Chloe and Mark drive me crazy when they have an item which they like and spend lots of time on it especially Chloe with a certain beauty brand which she flogs to death........

I remember during Lockdown, Lyndsay frequently announced that she didn’t work for TJC. However you say it, if you are submitting your invoice at the end of the month, you are working for TJC. I also did have a chuckle when she randomly declared herself an Anti Aging Expert. What, from reading of the back of boxes? Me too, girl, me too!!!

I think if she had been trained by a Rob type figure, she might present and sell in a more relaxed and less hysterical manner. Her constant family and friends buying analogies are both wearing and because they are repeated so much, don’t mean anything any longer.. “We’ve made a mistake…” Very much auction channels school of presentation. You know perfectly well that a mistake hasn’t been made. Why say it? Any too low pricing mistakes in the genuine form don’t make it past the graphic for more than a couple of seconds before they disappear and aren’t seen again.

It’s a shame with her. because I think essentially through copying what she thought was successful sellers, she’s taken a path that doesn’t actually suit her. I think if she tried to be more candid, and had less of an air of over the top about what she was selling, she would actually be a more personable individual than many on there. But if you think back to previous versions of Ideal World, pretty much all the presenters that I can think of were using family analogies to try and entice people to buy. Hence, what other path could she have taken?

Jess's inability to sell items without relying on personal experiences or constantly mentioning family members makes me feel sorry for her. It's possible that she witnessed how some of the previous Ideal World presenters generated sales through such stories and it became ingrained in her.

At first, especially when she was just the Proskins guest she was ok on IW, although acting like an overexcited teenager at times she was ok at the start of her IW presenter career, but once she started picking up the bad traits from the others at IW she went downhill fast.

I switched on just a few minutes ago and the first thing I heard was about her ****** husband and just now her brother. She’s also saying that we should be buying some of these fleece things for Christmas pressies for next Christmas because the price will rise. It’s just non stop rubbish. Also, why is she shouting?

She is like somebody you’d try to edge away from on the tills at Tesco - boring you witless about her family.

Her pricing examples are absolutely desperate. Saying now she paid £8, on a market, for one garment bag. I think she’s confused… I think she means she bought eight garment bags for £1. Next piece of nonsense coming out of her mouth…

Nothing comparable on the market she says…
