QVC vs NASA

I currently have NASA TV on, watching the Hubble Telescope maintenance being done on the shuttle Atlantis. Two highly-trained astronauts are carefully repairing a complex scientific instrument, one of them balanced on a robotic arm being exquisitely manipulated by a third expert, the Earth moving silently beneath them. All of them are risking their life and trusting complex technology to keep them alive.

Then I switch back to QVC Live, where Dale and Julia are hawking dubious gold jewellery in a TV studio.

It really gets shopping telly in perspective.

Absolutely - they've already sold us all the Tanzanite in Africa (or does it just feel like it?) exhausted the South China Seas, and stripped Concorde bare, so space MUST be the final frontier........
