QVC US Selling Their Studios

So easy to be swayed by Easy Pay. As at last month I had 3-4 EPs going. It is never a good feeling until all paid. It’s great not having any this month. I am planning not to use it much unless a high value item. So easy to fall into the trap for beauty items of even say the cost of the current Elemis TSV !

I think they have to offer instalment payments because everyone else does, including paypal. And then there is Klarna on everyone's website these days. To stay competitive they have to have their own interest-free version.

Yes that’s a fair point. The entire high street is littered with instalment payments.

QVC were the first apart from catalogues back in the day who did the easy pay thing.

There was an item on TV the other week about people getting into debt with the endless easy pay offers from online retailers Klarna etc and not being able to afford the payments. Advice was let the company know straight away if you are having problems as they will send in it the debt collectors if you ignore the problem.

I have to be careful when paying with Paypal as the pay now in full bit is below the instalment payments it is easy to just click the first one.

Those EP and 60. daymbg aren’t free they are being paid for by the OTT prices and postage.

Mind you they aren’t alone. I purchased a pair of tights on line from a ”specialist “ company. A single pair of opaques cost nearly £13 incl post for a single pair, took a week to arrive and when they came they were stuffed in a paper bag which looked as if they were pre owned, not impressed but if they fit when I put them on on Monday morning that will be ok.

There is an online jewellery shop Mine Silver and I have bought a number of pairs of earrings. They charge £4+ unless your order is over £50, I can understand as it is jewellery unique too.

Most sites will have a spend £30 or £20 for free shipping. Ebay sellers can be over the top with shipping, sometimes back in the day items were cheap but the shipping expensive as eBay did not take a percentage of the postage costs, then they caught on and now do. I always said QVC made money from the shipping charges.

I think the high postage costs on every item you buy is to pay for the 60 day MBG which I think is daft anyway.

I think Amazon has a lot to answer for and just buying on line has taken over ordinary shopping as we know so QVC has to contend with loads more these days

I had to buy ordinary staples online, I couldn't find a shop in a city of 260,000 that sold the size I wanted.

BTW we used to have a large shop called STAPLES, but now long gone. Anyone remember this chain?

Joules probably do well on Q for that reason, as in their direct supply chain you guarantee people wait for the item of desire to rotate through whatever their weekly sale is (£94 for a Fairisle Jumper isnt going to get the tills ringing until it drops in price). Obviously as a company they've suffered losses this year, so it's for those kind of companies as you say Q holds value - but then again many stores and brands have also cottoned onto the concept of an "ebay outlet" now also for similar reasons.

Am guessing the reason we don't see the likes of Joe Browns on Q anymore is that whilst they are a brand that seem to sell everywhere, in recent months they've gone out of their way to ensure they are excluded from any sales / discounts the retailers they are sold through, thus not making them attractive to Q anymore.
Maybe not, I've just seen on the news that Joules have filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators and have requested the suspension of trading of company shares....they are on the brink of collapse.

That was the point I was trying to make. Big brands like Joules will increasingly look to all avenues to promote and sell goods and stay afloat, alas after reporting losses earlier this year it's clear things have not got any better for them.
