The forum is about discussion and i will express my opinion of RJ and his overpriced products if i wish, and i do look at IW garden products as well as it happens, as far as his presenting style is concerned you are easily pleased but each to there own i guess.

The T&M guy is quite different to RJ tho!!

What the hell, he is on again this morning, 3 mornings in a row! And just looked at tomorrow out of curiosity and would you believe it, he's on at 9am again!

Gees.

Well of course, you do just as you wish, my post wasn't aimed at you or anyone else in particular. No need to get on your very high horse. Forums are for expressing one's opinion after all. I just don't agree with yours.

Long long ago I was suckered in by all of the 1,00 of flowers, easy to grow, must have etc etc from RJ and spent a small fortune on a mixture of plug plants and bare rooted things, well lets say I might as well have just planted my £10.00 notes. My giant tree lillys managed less height than the ones I brought for 99p reduced in Aldi, my hibiscus didn't even manage a leaf each and my plug plants where so tired and dried out once they had arrived there was no hope for them (I did get my money back after complaing).
Now I would never buy plants with out giving them the once or even twice over and while it is some times more expensive to buy locally the size and quality of the plants more than makes up for it.

DP welcome to the forum, whilst I'd agree that IW plants I've bought have all faired better than the QVC ones, they were from the previous Garden Bargains vendor on IW and the disappointing QVC ones were Thompson & Morgan; so I'm not sure I'll buy any more for IW. I would agree that the shows on Ideal World make better viewing.

Ah you know, I am going to give them a chance.. after all, postal plants do rely on the postal service more than the company, and T&M guy does keep banging on about how the packages now go through letterboxes, so thats got to be a plus!!!!!

The only way to find out is to try i am waiting on begonias that were on IW a week or so ago so we will see i promised my self i would not buy any more plants but i could not resist.

If you don't work for Thompson & Morgan DP, they should offer you a job

ah, i know!!
but, in terms of QVC i like hayloft items, but not much else, its all the usual fare, at least Hayloft have some unique items!!!

They are quite cool. They do a good job. But I am uninspired by George doing the same sell on every item he ever offers!

I thought they ditched Richard Jackson ages ago. How come he is back in the fold?

Oops, must have misunderstood! I thought he was no longer to have his own regular shows but would appear occasionally as a guest. Mind you I never watch whole gardening shows so what do I know!!!! He seems to be all over the schedule any way, lol.

I think plants are a bit hit and miss from all sources. I have had some real duds from both Q and my local garden centre.
B&q never seem to water the darn things so if you get new stock you are ok but unwatered/overwatered plants are under stress and will go belly up shortly after purchase even if they looked ok at the time.

Most mass stockists sell plants far too early in the season (due to the GBP wanting everything in flower when they buy) so they have been brought on in artificial conditions, taken home and stuck outside in the wet and wind. It is no wonder the success rate is so low. Older generations did it slowly and in stages, hardening off etc.

Another problem is that we buy a particular plant because we like the look of it without a thought of the conditions we will be growing it in, which are often totally unsuitable. My biggest despair is my garden is shady but I love full colour so I am on a hiding to nothing.

I recently gave the sweetpea mats a go, despite crap reviews, and I've got to say they have all come up ok. Hopefully they will continue and I will have a colourful scented mass this summer.
