One of our neighbours has a lot of these plastic type flowers in tubs and hanging baskets. She has to replace the job lot every couple of years as they are out all winter and get totally wrecked.

Perhaps handy for folks who haven't time or are unable to do proper tubs, but personally I think they just look fake and after a while when they have faded, they look tacky. Love doing my pots and baskets.

They’re probably ok if they’re going somewhere quite sheltered but not out in all weathers.
Thing is even when new they still look plastic and fake. But then I love real plants and love growing them from seed, or getting plugs and growing them on. Not everyone likes to do stuff like that. I have just got my begonia corms out and planting them up in the kitchen this afternoon, while hubby watches Huddersfield Town get beat again. There will be a lot of cursing 😂. (Watches on FAWA news on the computer, they show every match on a Saturday when sky doesn't).

I have been going through eBay and the amount of plug plants on sale is excellent. 6 for £6 - £7 and many are 9 cm not the 6cm for over £20 on Q. I really don't understand where they get their prices from.

Going to have a look on Ebay. I usually buy seeds from there but didn't think about plants, although I've got a lot of seedlings growing on already.

Bit disappointed that the gardening event TSV is fake flowers to be honest. I was hoping for a RJ bundle of goodies or decent set of plug plants or that pond that I really want., or some of the easy compost (which is brilliant even if it is a tad expensive).

I had a faux pansy hanging basket ages ago and it looked quite realistic but after about three years the pansies looked ragged and weatherbeaten despite it hanging in a relatively sheltered place. If those pansies are the same then they’ll possibly go the same way.

I replaced it with one of the hanging baskets that Lorna sold as a TSV (last year, I think.) It had lights on it but I haven’t bothered with those but it’s survived all the shocking weather that we’ve had over the past year. I was quite amused when I opened the door once to a courier to find her touching it. She looked at me and said “oh, it’s faux. I honestly thought it was real and was going to ask you how you cared for it.” 😂

Have a look at Brookside Nursery's website. They do such a lot. They do 5/6 plugs or trays of 20/28/40. They are very good prices. And you pick your delivery date. I like the fact that you can get a mixture of colours. I got million bells, verbena, bacopa and nemesia from them last year and went for the mix of colours. I don't really want 6 of the same colour, so opt for the mix.
