HELP!!
Yes having had some VERY negative things to say about the plants and RJ on Q I have just seen the second TSV and it is just what I am looking for.
I have just dug a new boarder and have brought the shrubs I needed from the dreaded garden center, but I now need a selection of herbaceous plants and these look just right.
I need someone to tell me what I already know that half of them will be dead before I receive them and the rest will be the size of a cress plant.
I won't be watching again in case I cave in and accidentally order them.

this is a good tsv the kit is really good if you want a herbaceous border all planned out and the plants are a nice size and all different...

Step away from the phone..........

They will be dead within a week of arriving. They will not produce all the lovely flowers that RJ says they will - not this year, next year or even in a lifetime. Most will not even be suitable for the position RJ says to plant them in. So do not waste your money again.

I too have been talked into many of the plant tsv's by RJ in the past and will now NEVER buy plants again from QVC - however nice they look on the screen.:dull:

I'd say order them but accept no dead cress: if one or more look bedraggled on arrival phone customer service and reject them.

I had 3 Evison Clematis plants a couple of years ago but my rabbits jumped onto the garden table where I'd left them potted on to grow a bit and devoured them, even digging the roots out. Clematis are on the harmful to bunnies list but they suffered no ill effects! The pots have been in the plant graveyard at the side of the house when (over 2 years later) 2 of the three plants started coming thru (humming Follyfoot's the lightening tree at this point). Both are doing well and flowering at the front of the house now....so never say never!

I am also usually underwhelmed by plants received from QVC but have had a fairly good run of luck recently with some rather good Agapanthus courtesy of Charlie Dimmock.
I had had some seriously dodgy lavender plants arrive in a very poor state a couple of years ago and vowed never again when very few of them survived. Caving in I recently dipped my toe back into the Lavender patch again and sent for the five different types currently in stock. Four are strong, healthy & thriving ... the fifth was DOA. Appears I'm not alone as reviews placed on them so far appear to tell a similar tale. D'ya think they purposely pop a dodgy one in just to get rid of them? :cheeky: Rang CS this time and they have promised me a replacement for the dearly departed, although this has still yet to arrive.
If you really love and desperately want them I would say go for it but as has been mentioned before be ready to contact CS the moment they arrive if any of them look less than perfect.
Good luck and Happy Gardening!!

£2 per plant including postage is ok and 6cm pots are a reasonable size for a plug plant.

They need a sunny aspect and the Delphinium may get eaten by slugs. You will not get much of a display this year. CS told me the other day that plants are guaranteed 6 months when I ordered last months Plant of the Month which were 2 Raymond Evison clematis. They were bigger in 7cm pots and arrived in a bit of a sorry state but have revived in all this cool weather.

I know nowt about gardening but I bought my mum the TSV from about a month ago which was Pinks. I went round at the weekend and they were small but already starting to flower.

oh drat,

I've only gone and ordered the TSV. I'm redoing the back garden and now have no borders or grass but have stepped and paved areas with pots and containers. I kept looking at what was on offer in the TSV and it does look quite good value and in theory, I should have some nice floral containers for several years.

Well, that's what I thought when I ordered it....:flower: :mysmilie_499:

Forget what Tricky Dicky says and just go and buy more established plants from your nearest nursery, who will have actually grown them and then hardened them in your part of the country . Yes you'll pay more but you'll find they thrive and not shrivel up and die. I bought lots of none-stop begonias from my local nursery and every one is romping away. I did the same last year and they flowered from May till the frost in November. Fantastic value for money.

Morrison's are great for plants. They have a good selection at really reasonable prices. I've bought loads and haven't had a failure yet. Would recommend them.

About three years ago I bought a set of six fragrant rosebushes from QVC. All are thriving and this year we look set to have hundreds of roses (as promised by RJ). In the past I have bought a number of plants with reasonable success. And this year bought the set of mint plug plants which are now all growing really well and are really pretty big already. The most trouble I have had in recent years with a garden supplier has been with Spalding (from who we no longer order) after an utter failure with a peach tree and a cherry tree in consecutive years. Maybe I've been lucky, but I've not really had any problems with QVC plants.

Thanks for all of your wonderful advice I decided AGAINST getting the TSV and will go to my local garden center and see what I am buying.
I wish the garden center would offer something like the TSV it would make life so much easier.

my mum and sister are buying it.. i think the perennial plants in themselves are good value and large enough to plant out when you get them. these plants do cost a lot of money as these are quite expensive varieties. also when established the plants will form a reasonable size clump that can be divided. if you lose any qvc are usually quite good at replacing them and you do have 2 years with perennial plants according to which?
10 plants all different best tsv for a long time..oddly it did not sell out lol

I vowed never to buy plants from Q again as I think Thompson & Morgan stuff is rubbish. However, I have bought plants direct from Hayloft and deJager and have never had any problem. I would still urge you to give Morrison's ago if you have one in your area.

Another vote for Morrisons. I bought plants from there for the first time last year and they've all come up again this year. Never spent more than £3 on any one either. Am going to go and get some more this afternoon.

The only plants I would ever buy mail order would be plug plants for bedding purposes. I have ordered these from Gardening Direct in Jersey and was not disappointed. Their packaging is exceptional.

As for Richard Jackson. Any fool can hold up a picture of how a plant SHOULD look especially is if it s a Macro close up shot. The man is a tv presenter for a reason otherwise he would be in his garden. The man knows no more than my thumb about gardening.

oh heck and drat and all that

I've patiently waited for this TSV to be delivered and checked my account daily for news of dispatch. I went out at 14.30 today to take my daughter for the school run pick up ( grand son) returned home to a red card from Royal mail. It says they tried to deliver perishable items at 14. 12 ( fibbers, i was at home then) and to call at the sorting office in 24 hours. the only perishables I can think of is the TSV and yeah, checked my account info on QVC and it's showing as dispatched today.

I dread going to the 'improved' local sorting office. During the improvements, the waiting area was made smaller, with less counter spaces and many a time, there is a 30 minute wait outside the door before joining the snakelike que inside to get to the counter. Plus, I just know when I call at the sorting office tomorrow afternoon, I will be told that even though it says 24 hours on the card, I really should wait 48 hours, meaning a second journey to the dreaded place..... and even then, no guarantees the item will be there. The poor plants will have no chance.

No dispatch email from QVC either- why can't they give proper notice when dispatching perishable items?
I will go tomorrow but if the parcel isn't there, I'm not going back again and QVC will have to reimburse me. Rant over

You may be able to re-book a delivery on royalmail.com to save you having to queue, unless that's only for recorded delivery items that have a specific ref number.

I've finally got my plants.
I looked on line but it was a 48 hour delivery slot so I thought I would collect direct from the sorting office but I had to wait 24 hours ie after 14.00 hrs on Wed. I nipped out at 11.00am on Wednesday and when I returned, there was another red card, timed at 11.16 - to deliver a book from Amazon :clock: I never know what time the postman is coming. Anyway, I decided to wait another day and I called to the sorting office today, joined the queue outside in the rain and finally got my parcels.

The plants are in good shape and a good size too - some are 8" / 9" / 10" tall. There is a planting guide included and I am going to plant them into small pots initially then move into larger patio pots in a few weeks when they are a bit more established. Looking good at the moment.:flower:
