That's what I'm doing too and am planning to put some unopened items on ebay.
Lilith, are you saying that it's best not to use Liquid Gold any more?
i, personally would not use it in a regular routine anymore
only if i have a real build up dull skin
as a sort of rescue
and also more on problem areas and tzone
or spot treat little blemishes or marks
but i am currently trying more gentle regular things to stop clogging of pores and dead skin build up
apart from NIOD FM mask
also the Alpha H gentle dailiy cleansing powder which is basically freeze dried Pineapple and Papaya enzyme
which i mix into morning cleanser
i am still experimenting and see how i go
but i treat glycolic with a lot of 'respect' and use sparingly
my reasons :
apart from having talked to my lovely ex neighbour who has a very good beauty salon in Chiswick
about glycolic
and she has sad that immediate benefits yes, but longer term, after 6 months or so regualr use, damage to the skin
it is said to be a large & harsh acid molecule and rubs away the outside mantle of skin
and other acid molecule are a little gentle and finer
that is how i best understood it, without being a chemist or expert
then i noticed myself a thinning of skin on my cheeks
which is also probably aging, but still ....
then i thought more about what Michelle said about it being for sun damaged thickening skin
as i understand it, skin gets thicker and coarser to defend itself from sun,
and that conditions in Australia are different to here
and what the trade off may be between short term glow and wow
and long term potential damage and skin thinning (which happens also with age anyway)
and Michelle, who is the same age as myself, has now brought out the Liquid laser stuff
kind of working on her own age problems
and if you examine that cocktail, there is a little bit glycolic in it at the end of the ingredients
but it is more about the retinol and niacinimde really
(and yes with Alpha H as a brand being build on Alpha Hydroxy Acids,
i do not expect her to say that she is staying away from acids more,
i think that is fair enough.....)
and then Brendan started mentioning that he is not a fan of acids
as it harms the skins protective mantle
i.e not helping if you want 'healthy' resilient skin
and so i put all this together
and hence use LG very sparingly and with due respect to its 'power'
i still love the Liquid Gold Mask and am happy to use it before a big night out
as it is the biz
but it does remove 5 layers of skin in 10 minutes
so only for a big occasion, not every week....
if you see what i mean
so it is not 'out' as such
