I don't disagree with you, and IMO this is when Tax Credits should be issued. As I say, a bonus, not a right.

No pitchforks. But you need to think outside the box perhaps. Marriages and relationships fail and some parents fail to continue to support their child once they have moved on to pasteurs new. And then there are families who are able to provide for their children until illness or redundancy strikes. In some parts of the country the latter can be absolutely devastating. I assume you would not say that once disaster strikes and they cannot support their family without help... that their children should be taken away from them?
Single parents are not just members of society's under classes who have never worked a day in their lives and come from families who did the same.

the cost of living is sky high ( i can remember being able to live on wages of £40 a week) you did not need top ups. in real terms wages have not kept up with inflation hence the need for hb and tax credit. something went wrong along the line

Always remember that tax credits are "in your hand" so to speak. In other words for a non claimant to receive this amount they would have to earn it grossed up by over 30%

I deal with this a lot and it is unbelievable the amount people with several kids can get.

It does look substantial. I think her range is very blingy but l do like it. Very much special occasion wear rather than something you would wear to work.

Well you are right Whitesnake. It arrived today and it is really gorgeous, however if the stones were any bigger it would definitely not be believable! I am pleased with it but am sadly returning it. I just would not wear it unless I am going out. And I hardly ever go out anywhere where I need to dress up. It simply is not worth keeping for that reason. My small eek solitaire earings- I wear to work sometimes. My favourite eek circle pendant, again it is fine to wear to work or even with daytime clothes. Some eek is everyday bling and some isn't. This fall's into the "isnt" category, so it has to go back.

Oh what a shame its a bit too much for everyday wear. I am like you, hardly ever go on nights out anymore where l have to get all dressed up. I hope you eventually do find something you like. Have a nice Christmas!

I wouldn't buy anything from this awful woman.

Rushed home from her luxury holiday to vote in the Lords to stop Tax Credits from hard working families. Didn't work so off she went back to her luxury holiday.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I won't buy either now.

I also agree with the comments about walking in mile in another's shoes and that life throws unexpected curveballs. A long time ago I ran my own very succesful busines but became ill. My ex had an affair with the woman I employed to help out while I was ill. It all went belly up after that and I went from being very comfortably off to vitually destitute, suffering mental health problems after the stress, and living on benefits. You never know what's around the corner and people who think they're in a nice position and untouchable should always have a "what if" moment or two when generalising about people on benefits.
