More nasty offerings from Michele Hope this weekend ! You could have shown footage from her collection 10 years ago and not bat an eyelid it's exactly the same frumpy rubbish! As ive said before I wish QVC would put Michele and Kim on a boat and send them back to the 80s where they belong. It's not as if I'm a teenager, I was 50 in October but really- their stuff is so old fashioned even my mum wouldn't wear it and she's 80 next year! Lol!

Just wondering what high fashion offerings you choose for your wardrobe (I agree about Michelle Hope BTW)

I am fan of Kim & Co jersey fabric items - great for work and travel as they are so easy care and don't fade.

I personally don't think Michelle Hope is in the same league as Kim M.

Oops sorry didn't mean to offend! I'm sorry but the horrible stretchy/ floral fabric that Kim uses for everything and Michele's overuse of ' lace' and - well- pretty much all her stuff actually IS awful! There must be something inbetween high fashion and circa 1981 stuff such as this?!

Not offended in the slightest. As I said Michelle Hope is not for me either..and Kim & Co only sometimes the odd item appeals.

What intrigues me is that your post (and others on this forum over the past few years) have slated a brand for being "old fashioned". I am genuinely curious as to what counts as " fashionable" according to the members of this forum. I assume it's not what teenagers go for. Wondering what is fashion for the over forties (which I am!).

As an aside I don't really wear something just for the sake of trends. I tend to choose things that suit my body shape hopefully avoiding looking too old for my age :)

Why not? Each to their own.

I agree that the offerings fro Kim &Co and Michelle Hopeless are old fashioned. This doesn't mean they don't appeal to others. Why I think they are old fashioned are busy patterns and clashing colours and cheap looking material. The styles I choose myself are less fitting. I haven't worn a dress for years and wear jeans most days. I buy classic, good quality products and do not follow fashion. My most recent purchase was a fabulous Michael Kors down jacket from TK Maxx. Looking through my wardrobe I don't have a single patterned item. I guess I am dowdy but am often complimented on what I wear, I like to accessorise. i have often posted this opinion whenever there is a post critising QVC clothing and it's usually sent others into defence mode where the posts are all positive about QVC. It doesn't change my opinion that I wouldn't wear them.

I totally agree that's my point exactly! I'm 50 with a 5 year old so I don't want high fashion stuff I would just look ridiculous! BUT there seems to be a huge gap in the market for the 40-60 age group! I used to shop at Next but they got a bit samey. I have bought a Tiana B dress which I love but high street wise it's a struggle! I used to like Zara but unless you're 6ft and a size 6 forget it! I do see odd pieces (Aah sound like Jill Franks!)in Monsoon but again they can be frumpy at times!

I have purchased something from most of the ranges on Q but have kept only a few and actually worn even less.

I like nearly all colours but particularly like brown, taupe, muddy colours and it is nigh on impossible to find anything brown on DHS, same with navy so sometimes I resort to Q who at least offer usually more than one colour choice.

I ordered a Nina Leonard brown (unfortunately patterned) top and it arrived yesterday. Colour wise it is fine, the style won't set the world alight but as per usual the fit was rubbish. If it had been DHS I would have been able to take several sizes into the changing room and made my choice.

I find Q styles either very casual or overly embellished, dresses and tops without sleeves but very little workwear which looks smartish and not something you have worn to Tesco or on a cruise with a load of blue rinse yanks.

You don't sound dowdy to me Hun you sound just like me although I am partial to a bright linen tunic in the summer! I actually loved a linen ( look?!) top from Join the other day and loved all the colours but couldn't justify the cost cos I'm off work atm after two toe operations but might think about it when they come back in stock ( and I'm back at work!) lol!

I struggle to find a shop online or DHS that I can rely on. I find myself with Tesco for my work trousers simply because it's convenient as I really don't have the time to shop. I am working full time again and have a 5 and 3 year old. I occasionally go to Gloucester Quays and kit me and the brood out...the M&S and Next outlets get lengthy visits. I like wearing knitted dresses with knee high boots and thick tights in winter...in sludgy greys and taupes! In the summer I tend to be more blues, but I occasionally wear a bright pink or bright yellow top with white cut off jeans...from peacocks of all places! M & Co is quite nice and I get a lot for the children there too :)

Can't beat a lovely knitted dress in the winter- although mine have got more rolls than Sunblest underneath at the moment- thanks to a pot on my foot, off work and far too much wine and chocolate! Lol!

It's not so much they're old fashioned but over fussy and frilly. All that lace .Kim is slightly better and I have a few items ,but MH no I wouldn't try them because they would age me. I am middle aged and dont want to dress too young.Per Una seems similar . Less is more and I prefer plainer more classic styles these days.

I once said to my mother that I didn't like the clothes in one shop because they looked middle-aged. She replied, "What do you think you are?" Middle-aged I may have been in years, but not in outlook and I think it's outlook that defines what you can look stylish in. Wear something with confidence and pizzazz and you're transformed into a style icon. (A fat one, maybe, but stylish anyway.)

And yes, I said the F word. Fat. There. I feel much better for saying it, too. Fat. Not large, not plus-size, not well padded, but full-on fat.

I`m tall (5ft 10 ) so everything hinges on length with me. Many dresses are too short, same with trousers, sleeves are a problem too and waistlines often end up just below my bustline instead of on my waist so I rarely buy clothes online. I avoid anything too frilly, sparkly or lacy because they make me feel like a decorated Chistmas tree and you can hardly miss me as it is. Q`s clothes just don`t appeal to me, I like a lot of tailored styles for when I`m going out but because I don`t work I live in jeans and tops most days. I do like bright colours but tend to mix them with darker colours, ie black trousers with a bright top or a brightly trimmed edging on a darker coloured dress or somesuch. I don`t go for big flowery fabrics or large patterned fabrics and many of the looser baggy styles similar to Yong Kim just kind of hang on me.
I`m what dear old Gok would call vase shaped, broad back and shoulders, waist and hips look the same size, flat backside , in fact no bum at all, long legs and arms, not a good look. So Q`s waterfall cardis, shark bite tops, big flowery fabrics, sparkly stuff, baggy stuff and bold stripes or patterns do nothing for me at all.

I agree watched the Michelle Hope trailer just awful fuddy duddy clothes.
Iam mid 40s I like Boden(only when they have a discount or clearance), fat face, phase eight & white stuff.
M&Co petite fit for jeans.
