QVC's photos are nearly as frustrating as those of ebayers who upload the same blurred photo 4 times on a listing! I have a MM duvet set which has a polyester top surface but the layer against your skin, pillow cases and the fitted sheet are a mainly cotton mix. I wouldn't order a satin or other polyester fabric so it would have been useful to see the whole bed without the runner and cushions and also the fitted sheet.

What is it with the 1980s festoon blind effect runner...not for me at all but I am in the market for some new bedding; I'm not sure this is it though!

We bought our current house in 98 and the kitchen had the most dreadful pink festoon "bloomer" blinds and when I was picking up my kids from nursery I was describing them to the staff only to find the then owner was standing behind me! (What are the odds!). Maybe to spite me she took them with her :mysmilie_19:

This luxurious 10-piece jacquard woven bedding set includes two housewife and two Oxford pillowcases, a duvet cover and a fitted sheet, a ruffled runner, plus three lovely cushions to finish the look - two in a square shape with tassels at each corner and one bolster. Create a cohesive and stylish look for your bedroom with this one fabulous collection from Mayfair Manor.

Designed for style and comfort - the pillowcases and duvet cover feature the woven jacquard detail on one side and solid fabric on the other, so you can keep the detailed side of the pillows out during the day to show it off then simply turn them over for a great night's sleep.

All in the details - every detail in this co-ordinating bedding collection has been cleverly thought out. The cord trims on the square cushions match the trim on the duvet cover and Oxford pillowcases, while the ruffled detailing on the runner is echoed by ruffle detailing at the foot of the duvet cover.

Three wonderful colour options - the Ivory is the most neutral of the three, and will tone in with just about any colour scheme. For more of a bright touch choose between the Rose Quartz and Pale Silver depending on whether you prefer warm or cool tones.

Easy to care for - all of the bedding is machine washable and suitable for tumble dryers. The cushions can be spot cleaned.

100% polyester bedding...... yikes! Designed to provide enough static electricity to give you your own experience of the northern lights?

I laughed aloud when I saw the pink version on the TSV video. It looked errrr so "Bordello" and I expected a young Barbara Windsor lookalike in a black negligee and with come hither eyes, sprawled across the bed and the viewer wondering if she too, is on easy pay lol.
Wherever do they find this stuff ?

Has anyone had any experience with this 'man-made' bedding, I know the guest presenter stated that they are having to find other fibres as cotton was getting more expensive, which is fine and understandable as NN is a tad out of my price bracket, what I don't want though is to be have my skin sleeping against man-made synthetics. I mean during the day we tend to wear cotton or cotton (other natural fibres are available) mixed with man/person made fibres. I would however not really like to sleep on man-made fibres as I would as others have the perception that you would get too hot and sticky. Also of course if it is the case that if you sleep 'au-natural' then you may be getting 'hot and sticky' but not for the 'right reasons' (stop sniggering at the back!)

So my question is how good is and for around £5.20 per piece how realistic can our expectations be!

I don't like polyester bedding and, personally, I can't stand cushions and frilly bits on my bed. I don't see the point as they have to be taken off anyway.

I cannot believe that anyone with taste, would have this hideous stuff in their bedroom, not for me so I'll give this one a big miss. The presenters make it sound so glamorous - it's fairground tat.

I guess those who would order this, would be the same kind of people who would order a faux plant with lights in.

LOL I have ordered faux plants with lights in them but I would not order the Mayfair bedding.

One word: Cozee Home! Oh, okay that's two words but you can my drift!

I have been shot down in the past for daring to suggest that sleeping under 100% polyester is sweaty and sparky (and I did try a set when I received one as a gift and it was as horrid as I expected it to be!), with static hair etc. Someone made the point that we all wear man made fibres these days (anyone who wears QVC fashion surely does with most of it, Yong Kim and the viscosey brands notwithstanding, being 95% poly and 5% elastane...) and they're not like those of old. But I personally would not and do not sleep under or on or in anything with more than 50% poly and preferably less and ditto to my clothing..

However whilst this Mayfair manor range is not to my taste (she says diplomatically), it does seem as if their new blend of synthetic fabric is different to your traditional polyester so maybe it's worth risking a trial if you like the look etc..? I would love to be proven wrong on the breathability!

Ps. Northern Nihts is out of my price bracket too but there are plenty of decent cotton and cotton blend bedding sets out there on the dreaded high street - I wait for John lewis sale or use eBay or supermarket brands etc...

You said what I was thinking but wouldn't dare say out loud ;)

Well, I wouldn't recommend any 'naughties' on the top covering - you'd slide off the bed in an ungainly heap :mysmilie_17:

The guest presenter would say that - they have to make a virtue out of what it is rather than what it isn't. You can get affordable 100% cotton bedding. I think this story of the spiralling expense of cotton is QVC having their cake and eat it - charging exhorbitant money for dire quality Northern Nights bedding, and flogging Mayfair Manor.

In the warmer months I cannot use anything but cotton (I do like Cozee Homes in cold weather but it's a different beast to a woven style sheet fabric)... I even struggle with a duvet heavier than 1 tog.
