I have noticed some negative comments about Mally on another thread- which of course is fine and what this is all about. Mainly that the products are cheap looking, and inferring from that that they must be poor quality.
I agree the Mally packaging potentially lets the product down, especially the eyeshadow sticks and eyeliners. The compacts are ok, look cheap at first glance but are actually more sturdy when you take a closer look. Mascara packaging is fine- I like that it is white unlike almost every other mascara on the market. My favourite are the lip gloss pens. Although more hygienic to have foundatiin in a tube, this can seem very "cheap high street" or Avon, and the liquid version of ultimate performance foundatiin is very tacky and cheap looking, but I love the stuff inside the bottle.
The colours can seem very bright, and "cheap" until they are applied (sparingly) and the effect is very sheer, natural and pretty- not at all like how it was plastered on Tiffany (nalintha looked better). The only foundatiin I have not tried is the buildable coverage one. I like Mally foundatiins, although I am lucky not to need good coverage, i prefer the barely- there look- those who want better coverage would probably not be impressed with Mally. As a Celebrity make up artist maybe her clients all have great skin, lol!
For the price, on the whole I think Mally could improve on the packaging. Perhaps she should cater for a wider market with foundations. However being someone who loves the natural, dewy, polished look, and own a fair bit of Mally the product quality is very high, and I would say when it comes to packaging don't judge a book by its cover, and use a tiny bit, and dab, don't drag those sponges. I keep the plastic shield on my face defender (like Jill Franks I too never ever bothered with powder). I think this stops the face defender drying out.
As someone who has used LG and smashbox, chanel, bobbi brown, mac, estee lauder, clinique, lancome, body shop, urban decay, (i forget the others but you get my point ) the results I get from Mally are so good that it now dominates my make up bag and I re- purchase regularly.
