Magic moments

There was one many years ago where Charlie Brook tried to demonstrate a cordless phone and didn't have a clue how it worked! That was fun!

I quite liked the Strict Vacuum Lady. Alas there was a vacuum where her brain should have been and she vanished from our screens. By all accounts she was last seen on the checkouts in Asda in Solihull.

Hey, we've forgotten Pipa's "It's because you wear too much hairspray" comment to Michele Hope. That was BRILLIANT. I especially liked all the back-pedalling that ensued, to little or no avail. Seems the lace-clad granny Barbie was slightly piqued by Pipa's witty little barb!

I remember a few years back when the unqualified resident "beauty expert" was on with a new beauty brand (the name will come to me) and everything she said to the guest was wrong and the guest corrected her on everything, so although AY said she used this brand, you could tell she really didn't, it was painful to watch.........in a good way, it's always good to see a presenter who's telling fibbies put in their place.

The first time I've seen it .Its very funny. Check out the sets .How things have changed......

I think live vacuum demos must be the worse for things to go wrong .
Yesterday the Dyson demo I watched presented by Craig was a bit dodgy though not as funny. They tipped a load of dark dust type stuff onto a rug and then ran the Dyson over it in order to demonstrate the strong suction .

But it didnt pick up much and Craig said oh well you do have to go over it a few times, then moved over it several times and still left residue. It clearly wasn't 100 % efficient. Good viewing though ...

Was it Eve Lom?

Yes it was. AY' looked like she was going to burst into tears. Eve is nearly 80 and takes no prisoners. She was trying to demo the Cleanser properly and AY was doing her usual waffle. AY tried to take the pot from Eve who grabbed it back! We never actually saw Eve on again, I am sure she refused to work with AY again.:mysmilie_15:

A formidable woman Eve; Alison met her match and thoroughly out-classed. Probably my all time favourite Alison Young moment! Closely followed by the first few times Ali was forced to appear with Liz Earle; frostier than the Arctic circle!

Personally I can't stand Liz Earle. I like the products, but the woman herself is SO superior and supercilious - she needs taking down a peg or two, and I love that Ali doesn't kowtow to her.

Maybe Ali refused to have her on again? Eve Lom could have appeared again with a different presenter, but I can't imagine Ali could be made to do anything she didn't want to do.

Early on Alison would never appear on the Liz Earle hours and rarely presented say Cleanse & Polish in a In the Salon with Alison hour. She might suggest it as a "budget" option to a T caller. Folk on here were gobsmacked when she started to appear on LE hours as she'd always made a point of saying she'd never appear with a product she didn't endorse. I imagine she was doing as she was told.

Or maybe she changed her mind about the products?

Doubt it, Eve is a world known facialist with a waiting list of months. More like she refused to go on QVC again!

Eve spoke the famous words, "If you will let me finish!":mysmilie_8:

Each Eve Lom demo I've seen in the past, when I did purchase once, no Eve. Didn't know she was 80. LE C&P being a big seller for Q, in whatever formulation :cheeky: more like AY was overruled I'd imagine. Something that will be added to presenting fiascos is the calorie counting scales. Each demo I've seen has been a disaster with the studio lights being blamed by Simon the cook for a very shoddy and confusing repetitious "what we have here" load of tripe! If it is difficult to use get rid, it certainly didn't inspire me to buy. The company, if not Cooks Essen, must be livid.

I think Liz Earle used to hypnotize me into buying her TSVs. She had such a calm voice and I used to watch her shows absolutely mesmerised and then buy her products. When the ingredients of C&P changed and they flatly denied it, that was the end for me. Still like her gentle face exfoliator, but not sure if that has been changed as I have a very old pump that is still going strong. It is truly magical, every time I think I've gotten to the end of it, there is still a full pump (enough to do my whole gave) the next time I go to check!
