I wanted to try a few items from the Pixi range and placed three orders in total. I keep notes of everything and am aware of the amount spent, but it wasn't until it was pointed out to me how much I'd spent in total on P&P. Almost the cost of another product. I'm not going to moan about it now, as we've all done that enough elsewhere, but how do QVC manage to somehow hoodwink us into almost not noticing at times? Is it the fact that they keep up a constant barrage of talk, without ever mentioning the P&P that we somehow overlook it until it's too late? How did I fall into that hole again? Stupid, stupid, stupid!

You're right, when you notice the p&p it's a shock. There was an item on the other day that I fancied, only £12. Then I noticed the p&p was £2.95. That's 25% of the item price, unbelieveable.

I noticed they were charging £5.95 p&p the other day for one top, if you'd have wanted four in different sizes and colours then the p&p would've cost almost £24, and that's not to mention the return postage. It doesn't affect me because I stopped shopping with QVC about three years ago, I shudder when I think of how much p&p alone I must've given them in twenty years, but people will continue to pay it, funding QVCs "free phone" number and the competition money.

As I already have mentioned once or twice, I don't understand the p&p policy. Usually, whenever you place an order, you pay o&p once a day to that company, regardless of the number of items. So if your order contains ten items, p&p is the same, if you place a second order on the same day, p&p doesn't change either. Concerning shopping telly, QVC Germany as well as HSE both charge €5.95 p&p per day, not per order as in UK. Why don't they do the same at QVC UK?

Yes as said many many times before the P&P is OTT. The only saving grace is that you can try & return BUT is that really worth what amounts to average £8? Ordering say 3 items can amount to £15 to £20 only do if you want to try & return.

HSE were here in the UK for a short while and charged by the day too but they pulled out before having any impact on QVC!

I remember HSN way back.

QVC UK and US do it per item, makes no difference to them how many complains they ignore them.

I have always said QVC make money from the P&P. The only time the mention it is when its free or 20p, otherwise nothing.

Compared to Ideal World the postage at QVC is astronomical. What QVC charge is disgusting and it often puts me off buying things. it really does make me stop and think twice about buying an item, cespecially if its not a TSV!

Ideal World now do free returns too, if they can do it, I'm pretty sure the multi-million (if not billion) global QVC can manage it, they obviously don't give a toss about their customer once they've got the money firmly in their grasp.

Quite often when they are going on about price reductions ,if you add in the postage it adds up to the original price.

When I see free postage on Q I know its something that is not selling and they are trying everything to shift it.Im sure back in the day there was much more free postage on special days but those days are long gone.

Last week I returned a Join top I'd ordered to try as it was on easy pay. It arrived and as soon as I took it out of the bag knew it had been a mistake, I have bought better from IW. I objected to paying the postage for an item worth over £20 with RM so crossed my fingers and sent it as a small parcel. After reading this thread I headed over to QVC and found it had been marked as customer returned, I am well and truely gobsmacked, a return within 6 days, maybe they are taking note?

For me it's simple, I just don't/won't buy much from qvc! Now if they offered combined shipping like everywhere I would buy more I'm sure.

As I do with all my eBay purchases, I always add the postage cost to the item cost, and remind myself that the combined price IS the item price - and you will soon find the so-called bargains don't often look like the bargains they did at first sight and it's much easier to resist buying in the first place ;)

Good luck next time!

I don`t mind paying a fair price for anything, whether it be goods or services but I really hate being taken for a ride and I think Q does exactly that. Their p and p costs are inconsistent and they come out with all kinds of garbled explanations if challenged. I`ve never ordered clothing from Q, mainly because most of it doesn`t appeal to me but on the rare occasion I`ve seen something I might like then the p and p costs have put me off, especially if I was paying a fiver just to try it on.
Nothing is ever easy with Q. Their website or online ordering system frequently fails, their deliveries are often lost, damaged or take days to arrive, their stock levels are frequently depleted in a matter of minutes, their CS is hit and miss and their refunds are often slow and last but not least, their goods are usually overpriced and poor quality.
They hardly make buying a pleasurable experience and to top it all , they don`t seem happy just to make a fair profit on the goods, they appear to want to make more profit on their p and p. There are better fish to fry out there in the ether and many more websites who`ll give free p and p and returns or capped p and p and who`ll let me order half a dozen items for less money than the cost of buying just one item from Q. For a customer led business I`d say QVC have actually forgotten who pays their wages.

Definitely hypnosis! You get sucked in the more you watch until eventually you forget there are loads of other companies to shop with that actually have free postage, free returns and refund your money before the week is out. Oh yes, and have much lower prices. I have just placed an order with Weird Fish who have some nice casual cotton clothes. For anyone who likes the Kipling style they have some cute purses and small cross body bags for £17. They have free p&p & returns (90 days from receipt! ) I am in no way connected to Weird Fish - just want to remind people what's out there. It's easy to forget!

Yesterdays TSV reminded me I needed to buy some new nail polishes so I went on the nail polishes direct site and bought some OPI where there was a wider choice with no P&P!!

I always include the P&P in the cost of the item and make sure I'm happy to pay the overall amount. I know just what you mean, though, if you buy a few things in one go it is shocking how much the total P&P comes to. It feels like you're being punished for buying more! Far from thinking about ways to reduce their P&P charges, I think they're continuing to climb, with around £6 per item seeming to be the average now. My husband's company (a small business) use Hermes and they charge them peanuts, so I should think an account of QVC's size pay pennies per parcel. I used to think we were picking up the tab for those that abuse the 30 day money back guarantee, and repeatedly return used goods, but we know that a) QVC are very quick to clamp down on anybody exceeding a certain threshold of returns (irrespective of whether they are returning faulty / used / incorrect goods) and b) they have no qualms about punting said faulty / used / incorrect goods on to the next unsuspecting customer!

Snap!
I bought 3 OPI polishes from ebay yesterday - I don't really use Nail Envy and they always include it in TSVs so I have a stockpile that my daughter is working through. Franks was urging folk to order both TSV sets yesterday; that's a massive £67.86 on nail polish.

When the last Elemis TSV was on, I was only interested in the Oxygenating Night Cream so didn't want a whole kit. QVC are selling the single product on it's own for £60 plus P&P. After I picked myself up off the floor, I checked my regular and reputable ebay suppliers, and, sure enough one was selling it for £22, free P&P. Even allowing for the overheads of running a business like QVC, how can they possibly justify prices that are 2 to 3 times higher than the competition?! And that's not just ebay - everywhere I looked had it for far less than QVC are asking. They keep on about their buying power giving them the benefit of lower prices - are they simply in denial? The only appeal they have now is when it comes to trying new brands, but once I know I like a product I will buy it elsewhere cheaper.
