Hi Everyone
bought a Lorique diamond necklace 4.8 cts for £2349 looks so sparkly am impressed. Never watch Rocks TV i just put it on and saw this necklace and bought it dont even know how they pay their auctions. Any ideas on their Lorique pieces and prices and quality. Meesho always helped me out of my misery when my heart is beating fast like this if I have done the right or wrong thing.
Do they do diamond necklaces often in this range -- Its F COLOR AND VS1 diamonds with 10 points diamonds in 1 cluster. Its a beauty
Again dont know how to attach pics will hav to learn am thick in these matters i suppose

well done - I saw the necklace being auctioned and it is particularly beautiful. I can only recall seeing very few necklaces in the Lorique collection and own non of them.

If it helps I recently purchased a couple of rings from the Lorique collection one of which, a one carat emerald and diamond ring I had appraised by a jeweller on Bond Street and a small specialist jeweller near where I work in the London as I was curious to see whether the collection lived up to the hype. One valued the piece at 3 and a half times what I paid and the other at 4 and a half times what I paid.

Although I have not had the second ring, a tanzanite, I bought valued, its been made clear to me that the size and quality of the tanzanite in the ring alone means the ring is worth much more than I paid for it.

An easy way for you to get your own idea of commercial value would be to explore jewellery sites, Asprey's, Boodles, Mappin and Webb if you want to start exploring yourself.

Personally, I think it's much more important to enjoy the jewellery you have and to enjoy wearing it and it sounds very much like you will be - well done on your beautiful necklace - it's really a gorgeous piece

Gemlover - how exciting!!!!! Do you have an item number or picture of the piece?

In terms of price - it depends on how many diamonds make up the piece. For example 1 diamond weighing 5ct is going to be worth a ton of moolah! However, if you have 50 diamonds making up 5ct then the prices goes down expotentially.

I most definitely wouldn't compare prices with the companies that Anjo has suggested as they are high end and you pay for the "name". For example, a 2ct diamond at one of those stores will most definitely cost you at least 25% more than elsewhere (and you won't necessarily get one as good believe it or not). Another example is Tiffanys. They self-certify their diamonds and NEVER provide GIA reports (which is sacrilege to diamond buyers)!!!!! I've also seen some less than beautiful stones in some of the designer jeweller boutiques.

What I would do is benchmark against the diamond bracelets that TJC have at the moment. I believe they've been selling 4ct tennis bracelets???? If the number of diamonds roughly correlates then you'll get a good indication of whether you've made a good buy or not.

Based on simply F, VS1, 4.8ct and £2349 I think you've made a reasonable purchase. However, it really depends on the number of diamonds.

Hope that helps.

Edit: I think there may be 480 diamonds? If they're all 10pts???? Maths was never my strong point :)

Not sure if these links will work but here are some comparisons for you:-

http://www.thejewellerychannel.tv/ProductDetail.aspx?StockCode=658986&ISFPC=true 4ct made up of 97 x 1.9mm (2.5pts each) princess cut diamonds - £1899

http://www.thejewellerychannel.tv/ProductDetail.aspx?StockCode=628768 &ISFPC=true 5ct made up of 75 x 2.5mm (6pts each) round cut diamonds - £2999

https://www.thejewellerychannel.tv/popups/viewdetail.aspx?StockCode=269214 1.82ct made up of 245 round cut diamonds of varying sizes - Paid £599 2 years ago and valued by Safeguard (also 2 years ago) for £1,200. You can see that the price was driven down by the number of diamonds here.

You can see how the number and size of diamonds influence the price enormously. Are your diamonds 10pts or 1pt each???? That will make a big difference. 1pt diamonds are 1.3mm in diameter and 10pt diamonds are 3mm.

Hope that helps.

I would dismiss the quality of the gems from the companies I named with caution

for example Boodles only work with diamonds that are D-H in colour and FL-VS ie diamonds that are visually perfect. They could provide a good high end comparator for your necklace. (My understanding is that Asprey's and Mappin and Webb also only work with the same quality of diamonds.)

something for Rocks to aspire to in due course Boodles is another family owned company - though in this case for 6 generations.....
