I bought the TSV set of those little coloured torches recently. They have arrived and the torches themselves are actually not bad (they do come with cheap'n'nasty batteries though!). They kept on about how you can make 5 gifts with them, which is what I'm going to use them for - they're handing stocking fillers. However, couldn't someone at QVC have had some foresight and included 5 copies of the little instruction leaflet too? Ok, it's a torch and I'm sure you don't need an engineering degree to figure out where the batteries go and how to switch it on, but it does make a device look complete if it has instructions included. I don't want things looking like they've come from the 99p store or a market stall, although they'll think it anyway probably! I've copied the one included and, job done, but I shouldn't have had to really.

Now now, you've got to think laterally here. You're meant to make your own booklet using the materials from the many craft shows. The gift of a torch becomes more personal with a handmade booklet. Just imagine how the face of your loved one will look on christmas morning when they discover a personalised instruction book on how to switch it on.

And if you're like me, I'd give the batteries as a separate present.

Surprised with the size of the torches.

I only paid £1.48 for the same torches from Asda about 6 weeks ago-I got one for each of my boys' stockings!

If that doesn't make them the talk of the town this Christmas, nothing will!
