Jenny Blackhurst was selling a pretty floral Phase 8 dress. As usual said this would suit anyone. I see that they were showing on screen the modelā€™s height (5ā€™10ā€), which came down to her ankles. Just out of interest I looked up the length of the dress 62ā€ (5ā€™2ā€). Think it might be a trip hazard for me as Iā€™m 5ā€™3ā€šŸ¤£.

Not just on QVC, but has anyone else noticed that the are a lot of long sleeved dresses and tops around this summer?

Just caught Jenny Blackhurst on a repeat with Squeaky Beaky Laura. She seems to have lost an inordinate lot of weight. She looks as if her head is wider than her body. AY and Victoria Fitz-Knowall do too. Remind me of the football big head figurines.

Thereā€™s a lot of coats and jackets being worn this ā€œsummerā€ around these parts.

I've only worn "summer clothes " this year for about two or three weeks in total since early May. I've never had to resort to jumpers in June and July. Some friends and relatives still have the heating on.

I bought two summer dresses earlier in the season. Both were on sale so they were good buys but they're still hanging in my wardrobe, and I'm gutted because dresses always make me feel good. Maybe we'll have a late summer? I'm still in at least two layers with duvets piled high at night.

I feel your pain. You've got a special event planned, or maybe it's just a day out, you've chosen a lovely dress you're gonna wear and go to bed looking forward to the next day, then you wake up in the morning to find we're in November again - so leggings, jumper, boots and a puffa coat it is then, and don't forget your brolly! This is always happening to me and I hate it. Most recently a couple of friends and I had planned to go for a meal and a shopping trip in another town and of course come the morning it was a monsoon, in fact the sound of the wind, and the rain lashing against the window woke me up. One of the friends called me a little later to say shall we give it a miss today? I said no let's just wrap up and take a brolly, she said no point in taking a brolly it won't stay up in this weather, but still I persuaded her to come . So I met the two ladies in town to catch the bus. I decided instead of my lovely cotton summer dress to wear a skinny rib sweater dress, boots and a light denim jacket, I threw my brolly and pack a mac into a tote bag and off I went. The other two ladies, one just wore jeans, a jumper and a raincoat, but the other lady turned up in a thick brocade skirt, a thick woolly jumper, woollen tights, boots and a huge to the floor puffa coat. By the time we got to the bus stop it was a light drizzle but still pretty cold, but within about 20 minutes of being on the bus, the sun was out (not forecast when we checked in the morning) and the poor love was sweating buckets and ended up lugging this huge coat around all day! I think I'd rather go out underdressed as it's easier to fix!

I've just donated one of my dresses to a charity shop for that reason. I bought it in a charity shop to begin with, brand new with tags, yes I could see it was long and voluminous but it said size 8, I'm a 10/12 and thought it would be plenty roomy enough. I was umming and ahhing as they wanted Ā£15 for it, so I checked the brand on my phone to find the exact dress still retailing for Ā£160. Being in a bit of a rush I tried it on over my jeans and t-shirt and it was fine so I bought it. It wasn't until I went to wear it and started trying to style it that I realised that unless I wore really chunky heels I'm gonna damage it and it's a fine fabric summer dress. There was so much fabric in it that I felt swamped, so I tried ruching it up with a belt which looked a lot better, I had to play around with the buttons on the neckline to make it sit right and when I thought it was perfect, on went the Birkenstocks and I went to meet some friends for coffee. I was greeted with "Wow! You didn't need to get dressed up for our sake!" There was I thinking I'd managed to achieve that effortlessly casual beachy vibe - Clearly I hadn't. I wore it again after that to an outdoor concert, ruched again, but this time with cowboy boots - got no comment or compliment. Then just last weekend I had another outdoor concert so I planned to wear it again, and as soon as I put it on I thought no, the bliddy thing swamps you and I popped it straight in the donation bag, which I've literally just dropped off.
When it comes to dresses at 5'4" I'm better off with either a knee length or there abouts, or a midaxi, I'm ok with short but I do prefer to wear woolly tights as my knees aren't what they were lol! So yes no more maxi dresses for me unless they're on the ankle and no lower.

Same here plus a couple of t shirts from M&S.

I take a cagoule that folds up into its own bag. I find it a lot easier than trying to carry a bag and a brolly although have only gone food shopping in the last few weeks and we go in the car.

I haven't worn any summery clothes this year. It's freezing down here and we've had 2 days rain and 13 degrees. Today I'm in wellies, padded coat and 2 jumpers. I'm really feeling pretty depressed at the moment because I know as soon as I go back to work on 14 August the sun will appear. It's always the same, year after year :(

Just packed up a couple of bin bags full of previous years summer stuff, some with the labels still on them. Such a waste of money.

Same here. At least it is warmer today but sadly wetter. Iā€™ve given up. I havenā€™t worn any real summer clothes so far this year and going by what Iā€™m hearing and seeing on the forecasts, Iā€™m not going to. So depressing. I decided yesterday that I wonā€™t be buying any again. Total waste of money. Iā€™ll waste it on handbags instead - at least they get used and out šŸ¤£

You can never have too many handbags!
Ignore those stupid males who say: You've got a handbag, why do you want another one?
Reply: You've watched a football match, why do you want to watch another one?

For me when it come to handbags, the fewer the better. I have 3 ,one which is my main bag, a fairly large leather bag that converts into a backpack but it doesn't look, or feel great with evening wear, so I have a couple of smaller ones, but the amount of times I've gone out and realised that something vital has been left in one of the other bags is nobody's business! I do have a tote bag, but I don't count that as a handbag lol! The multi compartmented Kipling bag I mentioned in another thread has long been donated to the charity shop - I thought it would be great for my holidays .....It wasn't!!!! I'd love to be able to be minimalist but so far I've failed miserably perfume for instance, I've found a fair few that I like the smell of, but none of the bliddy things last five minutes on my skin, so I've never had anyone say....Oooh what's that perfume you're wearing 'cause they can't smell it.

Here's my weather forecast: heatwave in August, ending with flippin' great storm, usually in the middle of the night when we're all trying to sleep, followed by cold and wet. Then as soon as we hit September, the rain begins. That should end, if we're lucky, sometime at the beginning of May.

However, you can tell it's supposed to be summer - the rain's a bit warmer.

I donā€™t like the hot weather but I do like it slightly warmer than 15 degrees. Wet, windy and thunderstorms down here on the south coast. I am wearing some of my lighter weight clothes but with thick winter cardis on top.

Here in Eastern England I'm tempted to get my winter coat out again. Cold, grey, wet (your average summer day, really...)
