I recently picked up a Jack Lalanne juicer from the Warrington outlet (or rather my lovely forum friend Lizgregs picked it up for me, thanks again!) As it was a return it didn't come with an instruction booklet, and I'm wondering if any of you out there have ordered it from QVC or anywhere else, have the instruction booklet and can tell me if there is anything of desperate importance/use that I might be missing? I've put it together using common sense and it appears to be working fine. The item number is 830 544.

Without wanting to sound too much like a T-caller it is fabulous: quick to use, easy to clean and the juice is gorgeous. I even managed to get some into my recalcitrant nearly three year old which is one heck of a recommendation believe me...

Any info gratefully received :handshake:

Here's a digital version of the instructions ArtDeco. Hope you can download it okay.

My power juicer is in the cupboard as I've not got a lot of room. Maybe I need to dust it off!

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
READ THESE SAFEGUARDS CAREFULLY
BEFORE USING THIS PRODUCT!
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always
be followed including the following:
• NOT FOR USE BY CHILDREN! Keep out of the reach of children to avoid injury.
This appliance is not a toy.
• Consult your physician before giving fresh juice to children, especially infants.
• Be sure to turn to OFF position after each use of your juicer
• Make sure the lid is attached properly and securely locked before operating
the Power Juicer.
• Do not unfasten the locking bar during operation.
• To avoid risk of injury keep hands and utensils out of the juicer and away from its sharp
blade during operation.
• Use the pusher, not fingers or utensils, to propel the food into the juicer.
• Should food become lodged in the opening use pusher to push it down. If food remains
stuck, turn the power off, wait until motor stops, unit shuts down completely, and is
unplugged before disassembling the juicer and removing the blocked food.
• Make sure the motor stops completely and the unit is unplugged from the electrical
outlet before cleaning, putting on or removing parts.
• To protect against risk of electrical shock or injury, never immerse power cord,
plug, or main unit in water, or other liquids.
• If juicer stops due to improper operation or if there is excessive noise, turn power off,
wait for blade to stop spinning, unplug from electrical outlet, disassemble and clean
all components then reassemble machine.
• Do not use outdoors.
• Do not operate this or any appliance with a damaged cord or plug.
• Do not operate if appliance malfunctions, is dropped or damaged in any manner.
Let a qualified appliance repair person examine and or repair appliance before using.
• To avoid electric shock or serious injury do not use any attachments that were
not recommended or sold by the manufacturer.
• Do not let power cord hang over the edge of table, counter, or let cord touch
hot surfaces such as stoves.
• To reduce the risk of injury, never place blade on base without properly
assembling the unit.
• This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce
the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug
does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified
electrician. Do not modify or force the plug in any way.
• The motor will not run if unit is not properly assembled. The motor has a built-in safety
feature that will not let the power turn on unless the locking bar is locked in place.

ADDITIONAL SAFEGUARDS
The Power Juicer has a thermal cut-off safety feature. If the unit accidentally overheats, it will stop working temporarily until the Power Juicer cools down. Afterwards, the unit will continue to work again normally.
In the event the Power Juicer is jammed the motor may shut down. If this occurs the juicer should be shut off and unplugged. The unit should be thoroughly cleaned to remove the obstruction.
The thermal cut-off safety feature is designed to shut off the motor when it over heats.
Please use extreme caution when handling the Power Juicer blade as the blades are very sharp.
Always turn power off to the Power Juicer immediately and remove power cord from electrical outlet before disassembling to clean due to any food obstruction.

HELPFUL HINTS
Obtain the best results from your Jack LaLanne Power Juicer
by following these helpful hints.
• Do not put any fruit or vegetables in your machine until power is turned on.
• Allow unit to run for at least 10 seconds before juicing.
• Do not force food into the juicer. Allow food to pass through slowly and steadily using
the pusher. You do not need to apply pressure unless the juicer starts to vibrate. Then
only a slightly harder push should bring it back to balance.
• Any fruit or vegetable that will fit the chute can be put through whole. The only time it is
necessary to cut is when something is too large. Then it should be cut into large enough
pieces to fit in the chute. Do not cut pieces too small.
• Remove large pits such as peach, mango, etc. as they will damage the blade and possibly the unit.
Before juicing cherries we recommend you remove the pits using a cherry pitter.
• Cleaning can be made easy by placing a plastic bag inside the pulp collector container.
When you are done juicing, the bag can be lifted out and disposed of easily leaving the
pulp collector easier to clean.
• Let the Power Juicer run for a few minutes before turning off to allow any excess juice to
be extracted from the pulp. Once turned off it is quite normal for the juicer to spin for a
minute or so due to the very fine precision balancing of this appliance. Wait until it is
done spinning before disassembling.
• Do not use bananas or avocados as they do not contain juice and will clog machine. Add
them separately in a blender.
• We do not recommend using overripe fruit as it will leave too much pulp in the filter and
clog the machine.
• Do not pour liquids into the machine at any time.

Thanks so much for this minnietheminx! :mysmilie_504: This is fabulous, really useful. I haven't been letting the juicer run for a bit before puting the fruit/veg in, or after I'd finished juicing, but I can see how this might help. Will give it a go!

Have to say I'm no domestic godess (OH would hoot with laughter at the very idea) but this is one kitchen gadget I wouldn't now be without. I love fruit but am a bit useless with vegetables so am going to try and mix them in together. This is also another ruse to get goodness into my son without him knowing. I'll tell him it's apple juice when it's actually apple and broccoli. Who said you should never lie to children?!

Thanks again

carrot apple & celery is yummy but just making sure u put more apple in then celery!!

Thanks very much JCR1982, will try that one :handshake: :hi: I meant to put on my original post that if anyone has juice recipe suggestions please feel free to contribute them!

Happy I could help ArtDeco. :hi:

I might have a hunt around for a juicing book I bought. If it surfaces, I'll PM you with some recipes or I'll try and find an area on ST.com to post. I guess recipe talk isn't really QVC-related, so it mightn't belong here. If I keep it snappy I might get away with it.

Feel free to PM me with recipes! I have access to The Drop, perhaps there's somewhere over there we can swap ideas?! I'm going to try pear and grape later today...:glass::clapping:

Not sure about that glass Art Deco - looks a bit like it might be an alcoholic cocktail number with the only fruit being the cherry !!!

Glad the juicer seems to be a success - I'll have a sample next time we meet but I am fussy......How do you fancy being a guest on QVC next time it's on demonstration??? Or at the very least, a T-caller

I have a small bullet one (think that was what it was called years ago) - black jar and twist lid which has the blade attached. It's great for the amount I juice as OH doesn't do fruit/veg and you can't juice a bacon buttie. Throw all sorts of fruit in, especially if they're a bit past their best - mango, strawberries, blueberries, nectarines, melon - but never done veg. Bananas go in well too and I have been known to mix in a bit of yoghurt....get me all culinary :mysmilie_46:

Thanks for the PDF file!

I'm quite happy with my powerjuicer.

This is the "only" problem I have with mine, it happens quite a lot.

Apologies for dragging up an aged thread but thought this might be of interest...

Before I had the good sense to post a message on here asking for help with instructions to the Jack Lalanne juicer bought at the Warrington outlet I phoned QVC and asked them to send me an instruction booklet. I explained I bought it at the outlet and they said it wasn't a problem and they would get back to me. They rang me a day or so ago to inform me that the Jack Lalanne juice company has gone into liquidation (they didn't seem to get the pun :giggle:) They also said that they have very few in stock and can't get any more. I queried this as they'd had it as a Hot Pick back in stock in all colours only three or four days before, but they were insistent. However, it's still on the web and I phoned them just now on spec and they confirmed they have tons of them in the warehouse...

But if it is the case that Jack has juiced his last it may be harder to get repairs etc in future and given that this may influence the decision to purchase I though I'd just pass on what they told me. It's one thing spending £29.99 in the outlet and being philosophical if it is defunct in a year or two, another spending nearer to £75 which is what it is right now on QVCUK.com and facing the same problem

Hope this might help

Liquidation - interesting development!

I wouldn't worry so much if you've bought from QVC, more so if anyone bought it from an infomercial. In many years of enperience QVC have always honoured their resposibilities under the sale of goods legislation; I've had 3 printers, 1 vacuum cleaner and a tv refunded in full, all just outside the 12 months QVC guarantee (this may be less than 12 months now, I'll check later) In every case we argued that each failing appliances should reasonably be expected to last beyond a year in normal usage; to have failed so soon suggesting a fault. They always refund in the end, even if you have to spaek to a manager and spout "fitness for purpose" at them. They don't usually carry the same item long enough to replace, so we've been very lucky; had we bought from pcworld or currys it would have been harder to get a refund: I find it harder to have these sort of discussions face to face instore with a saturday lad...iykwim.

I'm embarrassed to admit I have a jack lalanne juicer in my cupboard, c/o a friend who'd had it in her cupboard for a few months unused...I'll have a mooch thru the juicing thread in the drop and dust it down...tomorrow...or next week/month/year...you get the idea! :drunk:

I have a juicer that's sat on my worktop for about 3 years, brand new and never used. I just buy cartons of V8 which I love.
