I've only just discovered this video by my son, at a piano competition in Sweden.


He got the chance to play the most expensive Yamaha concert grand (he was not a competitor BTW).


One of the reps also explained the qualities of this piano, and said it costs as much as a decent house!

BTW his Youtube channel now has about 85,000 followers. He looks very much like me in the picture above.

Have been watching YouTube videos of Victor Börge.
Very funny. A great talent, former concert pianist up to his 20s but preferred comedy more. But still plays full pieces in his full shows, towards the end, so a good mix.
Reminded me of Tommy Cooper, using the piano as the stooge, instead of magic.

Bosendorfer is maybe the best Grand Piano make? The late Victor Börge had one at home.

Yes he was a very funny man.
We saw a programme on Sky Arts a few weeks ago with one of his shows.

There is a US CBS 60 minutes special on youtube of him. It shows his career in archive footage from the 30s onwards, comedy films then his act, which basically was unchanged for about 60 years, just built on top.
He tells the same jokes... But stil funny! Also like Cooper he could make you laugh without saying anything.
But when he then plays full classical pieces from memory, as a virtuoso, with great touch, you appreciate his talent. Can't think of anyone comparable today.
He started playing in Copenhagen aged 2, his Danish parents both musicians; a piano player/teacher mother and father a violinist in the Symphony Concert orchestra. It was destiny!
