Is bonding really another name for plating - Veronese

I would love to know more, Madmax. I have bought a lot of Veronese, but always think it is a bit too shiny. worn ok so far. but not worn it a lot. Ginetta is always careful to say it lasts for ages, she never says it is permanent.
It would be most interesting to know what your Dad thinks.
 
there is a difference between bonding and plating, but more in the amount of layering from what I understand. Plating will deposite a very thin layer of gold onto another base metal by either chemical or elctroplating method. This thin layer will not last long. Bonding however will depend on how many layers are deposited on the base metal, and they are bonded with certain metals as a base layer to ensure coating will be durable, also the ampount of layers will effect the durability, so the more layers the better the bonding
 
When I was a kid my mother bought a gold plating kit from QVC to replate a brooch. You had to put some stuff into a bowl, then dip it in with this metal thing. I ended up plating loads of paper clips and a small mustard spoon!
