OMG! Coming up at 1pm - "Garden Re-Leaf with Richard Jackson" presented by Anne Dawson!!!!! Strangely I'm almost compelled to watch it now to see if its sheer awfulness will meet with or surpass my expectations. A whole hour of haggard Haggis-Face droning on like a set of out-of-tune bagpipes peppered with rasping interjections from a diminutive little gnome-like man touting his overpriced tat! I bet they will be vying with each other to see who can screech / self-promote more in what will be the ultimate ego-bolstering death match! Will tune in for the first few minutes at least and see what happens...

Oh! She's on with an annoying South African man who looks a bit like Cliff Richard, touting some "It Works" cleaning blocks. Well guess what Anne, I can do the same with some Asda Smartprice sponges and a drop of Fairy liquid - total cost 45p!

They just showed a video about the Greenfingers charity. Quite saddening to watch, really. Poor kids. Now Richard & Anne are on touting Flower Power. He's rasping on doing that strange roar sound he does. Oh, here they go - talking over each other. Right. That's it! I've lasted 12 minutes.

They are giving £1 from each purchase to charity. I wonder how much Richard Jackson is making. I rather suspect his cut will be considerably more generous. What makes me uncomfortable is that they seem to be using the charity donations as a sales / PR ploy. Making money out of dying children = NOT VERY NICE. I switched off when Anne Dawson started about the 'phone lines going crazy. Same old presenters, same products, same drivel.

I notice you refer to Ann Dawsons "haggard haggis "face but no such description of RJs facial features. Of course being male he is ageing gracefully is he not?

No he isn't. She looks better than he does. He is worse in the scale of awfulness generally in every sense. He looks decidedly craggy like a perished pumpkin.

It is NOT QVC who are giving £1 to charity, it is their customers who buy the products.

Yes, quite. I think it might be nicer to bypass QVC altogether. Buy a more affordable product and give the whole difference to the Greenfingers charity.

Just when you think QVC couldn't sink any lower, they go right on there and surprise you. Why not just donate a big wad of money instead of trying to flog their products off the back of sick children, QVC are beyond contempt.

Yes he is quite free with his nasty comments on ladies but I don't think he has ever made comments about males. He is quite horrid and needs reigning in . Before he starts wittering on about it being a forum and he is entitled to his comments, would he like people passing the same sort of comments about him??????

Oh Mads! You don't seem to have read my comment about RJ looking like a withered pumpkin, or my positive comments about Jan Springer. A lot of this sort of thing goes on where people read selectively according to a feminist / animal rights / whatever agenda. It's a fact of life that older women don't fare well in the world of TV. Seems unfair to me, but that's how it is. I would hazard a a guess that there are more lady presenters on QVC than male. Certainly the male presenters have fared better in terms of ageing, Out of the women Debbie Flint seems to have done better than most - but then as Eamonn Holmes said: "You don't get wrinkles on a balloon!"

To be honest i dont care if the person is male or female if i dont like them i dont like them i find Anne Dawson absolutely awful her voice would get on anyones nerves and as for the gnome the less said the better on his show this morning he constantly interrupted the person selling the plants and the presenter, you can see him he cant wait to say something when they are talking dreadful man.

Spot-on. I feel totally uncomfortable with some of this sort of thing - it's like when TJC promote their "one for one" thingy, where they give a meal to an Indian child for every piece of jewellery bought. It made me feel uncomfortable when the MD came on, and IMO was using it as a sales ploy. Yuk, yuk, yuk.

It shows how many sales they get from a days gardening shows though. If it's a pound per sale of on air products that's massive. (£55,000 last year, not sure what the current figure raised is).

As for presenters I try to avoid the threads about them but today I had to turn over when Richard Jackson and Pipa were on. And Usually Sarah Griffiths too.

I remember that. Colin Wagstaffe and slippery Amit were making a big deal of it. I wonder what exactly what constitutes one meal anyway? A cup of gruel? Maybe if Amit paid the workers a decent amount of money the parents could afford to provide decent meals for their family. Haven't watched TJC in absolutely ages. Has to be one of the worst shopping channels going. Anyway returning back to QVC it is shameful that they are using this whole charity thing to serve their own PR purposes and gain extra sales. The mark-up on that Flower Power must be considerable. It can't cost all that much to produce a little tub of potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus etc.

A lone voice here I know but I watched Anne and Richard and enjoyed the show. I think it is the companies such as Thompson & Morgan, De Jager etc that are donating the money from sales.
