am open-mouthed at the stuff Df is flogging at the moment in "handbag emporium".

the PRICES for this crap, even after theyve knocked a third off (which is what they seem to be doing).

they just showed one by "Maxx NY" (no, me neither) which was £111 before the discount and was the cheapest, crappiest piece of plastic tat ive seen in a long time. the sort of thing they'd give out free with a bottle of low end perfume. the rest of them havent been much better either.

what is is about handbags that makes normally sane women lose all sense of proportion?

I'm genuinely astounded.

my thoughts exactly, the bags were garish overpriced tat. Now I do have a weakness for bags, but you can far better in TKMax at a third of the price. For me the fascination is a quest for the perfect bag that I can get all my stuff in for work (two mobiles, ID, security tracking device, travel pass, A4 files, diary, packed lunch, keys, hairbrush etc etc) looks good and is easy to find stuff in. I know this bag does not exist but I am looking!!

Whilst I am one of those otherwise sane (well, for the most part) women who lose all sense of proprtion when it comes to handbags, I have to agree with you about the dubious wares they have to offer on QVC, not least during the hour in question - hideous colours, vile designs, and ridiculous prices. I wouldn't touch any of them with a ten foot barge pole :mysmilie_460:

Anyone else always think of a drag queen when they see the name Fortuna Valentino or is it just me. And yes most of the bags on QVC are overpriced crap imo.

I suspect the male equivalent is an unfathomable fascination for cables etc. Doesn't every fella have a carrier bag full of co-axials, scart leads and male/female connections and whatever..... lurking in the bottom of a cupboard.:cheeky:

Am I alone in disliking all the chunky zips, chains and buckles you see on a lot of the QVC "designer" bags ? Also I suspect that the reason for all the topstitching is to disguise the fact that the bags are made up from small pieces of leather (i.e cheap offcuts) rather than cut from one piece IYKWIM.

No you're not alone Erics Mum, I hate all that hardware on bags. It makes them look cheap and nasty. Footballers' wives springs to mind.

I love handbags but I don't often buy them from QVC. I prefer quite structured bags, particularly birkin bags and the QVC bags are usually just a bit squishy or slouchy for me. And I think for the styles I love there are better priced leather options on the high street ... Furla, Jasper Conran and in the past Ri2k. All priced at around or less than £100. Often QVC leather "designer" bags hit the £2-300 mark which is more than I'm prepared to pay.

I don't mind a bit of handbag bling every now and then.

I think Tignanello are a good value QVC brand but I haven't bought one yet. I might go for one though on the easy pay offer.

B Makowsky bags though are divine and really good quality. I was astounded when I received one, beautifully tactile leather, incredibly soft and squishy, superior hardware, stylish & very practical with all the pockets, funky lining,....very high quality on par with Mulberry/Prada etc....could wax lyrical about B Mak forever...

..the rest of QVC's bags though, yuk, KVZ definitely overpriced plastic tat, I've noticed they have recently put the prices way down on KVZ around £50 or so, obviously no one was buying at the £130 plus mark........Tignanello not bad, but B Mak's poor cousin & what a dumb name.....stone mountain yuk yuk, Booooring & bland.........

Oh heck I hope Burlz ain't watching. It's a Charlie Lapson clearance hour now. That bright yellow bag is a corker and only £122.40.

One purchased a lovely yellow handbag on a stall at our local outdoor market last week. From the price I paid, I doubt it was Charlie Lapson as it only cost a tenner and I had to walk through an alley of pig pens to get it:rock:

KVZ and B Makowsky are the same company. Infact its a Chinese owned company and the husband and wife team put their name to the brands and get paid to design them.
