I wonder if there are some QVC shoppers called 'Strong" ... Eliza Strong, for example ... who think it's fun to wear this t shirt. Otherwise, the message, 'I am Strong' looks and sounds like a 'self help' sort of thing.

I did see a T-shirt once which amused me, it was worn by a man, and it said "I'm not a gynaecologist but I don't mind ……."

There was a "sweatshirt" with Amoré on the front of it on the other day. Fitted and looked like 3/4 sleeves, hence my inverted commas. To me it did not match my expectations of what a sweatshirt should be.
Patterned t shirts or jumpers ok. Not really a fan of slogans.

I think male medical graduates who choose to specialise in gynaecology are a bit 'off''. Why do they choose this field, I wonder. Is there a shortage. It shouldn't matter to women the sex of the medic, but for many of us it does matter. Am I the only one who would prefer a female gynaecologist

You and me both. Sometime last year Gok's collection included a t-shirt printed " not all angels have wings" and it and a little wing logo stamped on the back. It was selling like hot cakes despite it being a ridiculous £36 + postage (something like that). It was obviously a nod to the nhs medical staff during the pandemic, so a topical cause to jump on in order to make money...No donation to the nhs with every t shirt - that might've been something!

I don’t mind what sex they are. I just want the best. I work in the private sector and it really infuriates me when a patient wants to see a doc urgently but when they find out the doc is the opposite sex, they decide they’ll wait. Not urgent then!!

True. If you really need medical help urgently, choice goes out the window. You would gladly accept whoever is available. But if the choice is there at that moment, I'd go with the female doctor.

Sorry for this rant but here but there have been a few posts around not being able to see GPs. in person There was an article on BBC News Scotland stating that GPs here in Scotland are firefighting and that the BMA Scotland are concerned about the pressure on GPs. I logged onto my GP's website to order a repeat prescription this morning and the website has had a much needed revamp. It now lists when the individual doctors are available. There are 3 partners and 4 permanent GPs but not one of them is available 5 days a week, they all list at least one full weekday off, the old Saturday morning appointments disappeared 20 years ago. It has a disclaimer stating that hours may vary due to other commitments, study leave and holidays. My doctor, one of the Partners, is available for 1 1/2 days a week. It could be that he does admin the rest of the week, but I doubt that but even though we are trying to recover from a pandemic so surely it should be all hands to the pump! The 7 GPs are available for a total of 20 1/2 days per week, but total available consulting hours are 22 per week. How is that going to make up for all the missed appointments. I have a responsible job, no one's life depends on me but I work far more hours than I am paid for every single week and my work mobile phone is on at all times. GPs used to do home visits every day, afternoon and evening walk in appointments, Saturday morning appointments and then be on call on a rota when the surgery was closed, now it appears it's not even a full time job, at my surgery anyway!!

The practice we'd been with for decades closed two years ago leaving only one for a town with a population of 60,000+. It's always been difficult to get an appointment & the practice is no longer seeing patients face to face. I know two women who were offered phone consultations when their cervical screening test were due & when I was bitten by a horse fly, with subsequent infection, it would have been easier to see a practice nurse rather than two trips to the Urgent care Centre, the second one seeing me pass out in the car park after being sent away.

Yes, I woke up on an antibiotic drip & with stitches in a head wound. Before this happened I'd been told to stop making a fuss & think about others, my calf was scarlet, very hot & the size of my thigh.

Ouch Twlight. I have a reaction to horsefly bites and I get a huge red lump which is painful for days but thankfully I`ve never had a reaction as bad as yours. I walk the dog over fields and the horseflies wait for me I`m sure.
Our GP surgery is dire and gets lots of bad reviews. I had an emergency visit to A and E a few weeks ago and was told I needed my GP to refer me to a Consultant as soon as possible. I rang my GP surgery who told me to fill in an online form asking for a GP to contact me, it took them 5 days to bother ringing me and when I rang the other day to check that I`d actually been referred they said I had but they didn`t know who to and which hospital. I know the NHS is way behind with referrals , clinics, ops and other stuff but God knows what exactly GPs are doing with themselves ?

This should come under the freedom of information act. They should be accountable for their actions as after all it’s us the general public who are paying their wages.
