Getting on me nerves.

It's the using of tragedies to sell that really makes me angry, an angel charm for 'protection' at the time of the Paris bombings, shapewear to help you feel better about yourself when great swathes of the country was losing everything due to flooding, and an EEK ring as a reminder of being in the first lock down when the pandemic was raging and people were losing their jobs, their mental health and their lives.

This group of shysters are not fit to lick the boots of supermarket staff who are working day in day out and sometimes suffering awful abuse for basic living wage.
I work at a very large hospital, yesterday I took a call from a nurse in ICU, it was hard to understand what she was saying over the phone due to her wearing 2 face masks, a visor along with all the other protective gear. At the end of the call I said to her please stay safe, at which point she said thank you and started to cry, I came off the call and cried as well. My NHS colleagues are on their knees, my office buddies and off with stress, we all cry over the smallest thing and this lot want us to by some tat to remind us lockdown.

L’occitane show - small sizes in a tin £22.98 PLUS postage -“ people are buying for the tin alone”

Its getting ridiculous.
What do people do with the bags, pouches and tins many makeup/skin care brands give with their products ? I'd rather the price be lower than get a useless bag thrown in.

M in D I just don’t know how they have lasted so long. I imagine this time last year they thought if they could hang in there for a few months it would pass.

How they treat people who have caught it after behaving illegally and like idiots is beyond me I know I couldn’t .

A local bar had a lockdown party (elderly owners so not young students) and 6 people have died last week. How can the people organising and those attending ,who know dammed well it’s not allowed and not safe, live with themselves? Is a bloody birthday cake worth 6 lives!

Charity shop or dustbin. Years and years ago Elemis included a decent sized rigid vanity case with pockets and zip. I still have mine and use it regularly as a jewellery box for my cruise trips. Now its a cheap cotton tote bag or a rubbish wash bag.

The tin was cute enough but probably would end up a dust catcher but no one in their right mind would buy it at that price. It’s tiny, more for a child to play shop.

The other day I channel hopped on QVC and it was Kipling, Jackie Gabler was flogging one particular bag, there were five colours and she reached back to get one to show you the lining, she stated they were all different yet only showed you the inside lining of the one she was holding. The rest though if you’d ordered this bag, you’d have to wait and see what the inside was like, and because of QVCs incompetence as shop assistants not only had you paid to receive it, if you don’t like the lining, you’d have to pay to send it back.

To be honest though some people do, I wouldn’t, I’d ring QVC and tell them the inside wasn’t shown so can they send a pre-paid label.
On the Kipling Show tonight Alex kept saying let us have a look at the linings of the bags so maybe she has read your post!!

Haven’t vented for a while but switched over from all the gloomy news to indulge in some luxury jewellery on QVC, I can look even if I can’t afford it...then ended up getting really irritated. Flinty was listing possible reasons to buy it. Had to mute. If you’ve got the kind of money needed to treat yourself why on earth would you need a presenter to give you reasons to buy it??? There was a ring with five settings (not even five individual stones) and Flinty pipes up ‘you could get this if you have five people in your family’. Really? Duh 🙄 some gullible eejit suddenly thinks, ‘I’d never thought of that, but now you mention it, I do have five people in my family, I must buy that ring’. Talk about the setting, the gold weight, the cut, clarity, carot weight, but of all the things not needed is ridiculous reasons to part with your money. Also the boots she’s wearing are too wide around the calf and look stupid.
Was she wagging the finger too?

But would you have paid over 30 squid just for the tin? It was cute but it was very small so lord knows how small the contents were.
I didn't buy it of course. The only time I've bought L'occitane was Christmas tins/baubles etc to give as gifts. It's not a brand I think is anything except ordinary. I like their hand creams but they sell them in very small sizes and they aren't good value.

All the deaths since Christmas, for just one day. And the majority of people don't even celebrate its true meaning, just use it as yet another excuse to party.

I don't know why people can't grow up. People my age (late 50s) should know better but unless everything's sparkly/fluffy/cute or made a massive and expensive celebration it just won't do.

And don't get me started on the 'lockdown puppy' thing. My neighbours, who both work full-time normally, spent £2k they moan they couldn't afford (but wanted to give a puppy a home! Go to a shelter if you feel like that, not a 'breeder' who sells popular fluffy crossbreeds), are now looking to re-home the dog as it's a nuisance and they hope to be back in work soon. They put all that on a FB post. They have no shame but they're that type.

Bring back the dog licence. Charge enough that it covers inspections. Or vet people like the shelters do and ban these new breeders. My neighbours had posted all the toys, bedding, outfits and everything else they spent £100s on so they should be able to afford a licence. They never walk the dog either, just throw it out into the garden and let it bark all day. They dress it up and post pics on FB though.

They are too busy talking about themselves these days to show the items properly. Chloe does it all the time.

*********?

I'll take the dog but I won't buy a second hand dog for £1000 which is what people are expecting to sell them for. They are all out there, "oh, no time for a dog now", "oh, can't give it the life it needs". In reality "it's eating the carpet and peeing on the sofa". "It doesn't like the baby I just had with no consideration of the fact the dog is a baby itself". "It barks at every dog in sight because I couldn't be arsed to walk it or socialise it". Need I go on?

I have a mental image of half the people in my street (and the country) walking around trying to hide the dick they're recently grown (though long-term possessed) on their heads now 😂

You know it’s a f***ed up world, when crossbreeds (expensive mongrels, as I like to call them) are selling for more than pedigree dogs.
And I speak as someone who has a small (hairy but not fluffy) mongrel. But paid a realistic £500. We live in a small flat and needed a small dog.
Though that was 5 years ago. Seen the same crossrecently for £1250. As Judge Judy would say, Ridiculous.

I would love a dog but because I am of a certain age, although health ( touching wood in all directions) it would be a worry what would happen to my pet if I got to the stage where I couldn’t take care of it.It is a long term commitment, looking 10 - 15 years+, OK if you have younger family members happy to take it on, I don’t.Not enough people consider the confines of pet ownership and accept, they see a fluffy puppy like a toy. There needs to be more education but would that really make a difference to ignorance and stupidity?

You're a kind & considerate person SF, if only everyone thought like you. Our cat is 7, it's the first time we've only had one & everyone says that we'll have more. However, I do think about what would happen if he outlives us so he's remaining an only 😿 Would you consider adopting an older dog, especially one who had lost their owner? I know that there's a risk regarding what you could be taking on in those circumstances but it might be a happy ending for the dog & a happy beginning for you.
