This past week or so I noticed Gem Collector selling more of the items that can be bought from a Chinese Website. Saying these were carved by their people in Jaipur. They had an amber buddha pendant @ £349.99 that was knocked down to £99.99. Seen online @ £7.99.Things must be getting bad. Surely the presenters know the game, so how can they be so dishonest knowing they're conning customers

Anything for a week's wages, it seems!

The Aliexpress is a fake.

The Aliexpress is a fake.
Totally. Obviously not the same thing at all.

Would even suggest it's not really a fake either - there being no obvious intention to deceive. It's under £10, with further discounts available for Wholesale volume purchases but the biggest giveaway is the product description, which is just a collection of words intended to be caught by a search engine, none of which include "Burmese", "Burma" or "Burmite".

Once you strip out all the obvious fakes or suspect offerings, very similar examples of the other amber pendant with hot/laser internal carving, shown on another thread, are available cheaper elsewhere from seemingly legitimate outlets - but not at this starkly different level of discount to the Gemporia price.

Whatever we might think about TGGC, its pricing and its live presentation market comparisons, this isn't a fair example at all.

Completely agree.

I'm not sure why a few repeatedly say "you can get identical products on Temu, eBay or AliExpress" when they're clearly going to be either fake or lab-created.

If we're going to criticise Gemporia, we should do so using legitimate comparisons. Otherwise, we undermine any efforts to hold them to account and risk looking hypocritical by engaging in the very kind of dubious comparisons we often criticise Gemporia for.
