If you enjoy collecting, not getting into debt, then be happy. But as said, do not expect the rest of your family and friends to share and have to deal with all your collection when you pass. It can turn very obsessive if no careful. One man's treasure will be another man's crap.

Can I just make a mention. Check with family if they really want your collection when you're gone. If not then start disposing, because there is enough to do when a loved one passes without worrying about getting rid of a huge collection - of anything.

My husband died suddenly many years ago and I had a cd collection of almost 800 as my headache. More than once I cursed him ! lots given away and most went to charity shops - I even drove to charity shops in other towns to spread them round a bit.

A friend had her mother's collection of ornamental owls to dispose of - hundreds of them - imagine !!!

So as you get older just be mindful about your beloved collection and start downsizing it for the sake of those left.
My granddaughter, 7, loves watching the Yorkshire Auction programme with Angus. It amazes me that people don’t get their stuff out of the loft, they leave it for him and his crew. I digress. A daughter had her deceased mother’s glass bells collection, house and shed full, to dispose of. Another lady downsized her massive collection of horse ornaments and rocking horses.

I have seen ads on TV something like Vinted asking people to send in their unwanted treasures. I laugh as the women loading up the box to send to them, everything is just put in loose. China, watches, clocks etc. Yes, and they will arrive smashed and worth nothing.
