Founder's Day 6/4/15

What's putting me off is the fact that the Founder/Chairman was stabbed to death a few days ago and an employee found him with a knife in his chest. ALso his wife is now officially charged with his murder. They have the nerve to mention his name and talk about him during the presentation to flog their sandals but show no respect or remorse whatsoever. The guest presenter couldn't wear a brighter neon pink shirt either. It's making me very uncomfortable watching them gushing and pretending all is well. I won't be watching the channel today. Not sure I will for a while after this.

Blimey ! do you mean the founder of Q or of Vionic ? either way, its macabre to say the least that no respect has been shown.

I didn't know that Vienna, thanks. I'll keep my eye open!

Yep. I bought a pair of Hotter shoes from TK a couple of years ago and they were the most comfortable pair of everyday shoes I ever had. I see Hotter shoes in there now and again but have never found the exact same pair again. I think TK must sell Hotter discontinued styles or end of lines.

i love free p&p makes a difference

Yes, except when it's Butler & Wilson, nothing would induce me to buy crystal skull rings/brooches/bangles .......An awful (emphasis on awful) lot of the free p&P jewellery is B&W tat.

I ordered the philip kingsley kit today as the value is good anyway, but the free P&P really did it for me, in fact i ordered 2 as i'm almost on empty so i have 1 ready to use when it arrives and 1 to keep on stockpile

I think I read that the founder sold vionic a few years ago.
As terrible as it is that the founder was murdered I don't see why the person who bought it out should forfeit their plans for the TSV.

Maybe nothing has been mentioned because of the murder investigation because they are following advice.
for all we know, they may have been told/advised/made a decision not to mention it so they don't do or say anything to put the case at risk.

These shoes do interest me but not enough to buy until I can try some on. I'm really struggling with shoes since my back operation and can't wait to get into some summer sandles

Just flicked over to see Cathy Kangas explain that Prai don't test ingredients or finished products on animals, but when she said "that's why we won't sell in China, because if you sell in China, you test on animals" Julia's face looked like thunder...........what's up Julia, truth hurt?

I don't know exactly but people who work in sales are usually on commission except the high street retailer staff I believe

I don't think the presenters are on commission but they are definitely monitered by the amount of sales in the hours that they present, I'm sure I heard Debbie Flint say that she tried to use this to her advantage when she was trying to get back with QVC as they always had high sales figures in her hours.

How on earth JF would fare if she was given rubbish products (is this why Julian went?) I don't know, they always give her hours where the products 'sell themselves' like beauty products or Kipling!

Founders day is a bit of a con methinks. The free P&P is only for things that have been on air, not for everything as I had thought. Also, as I was looking at the plants this morning the prices seemed to be strangely inflated. £47 for two hanging baskets?? You can get them from Jersey Plants Direct for £23 for two and they have a huge choice, plus free P&P. QVC were giving us free P&P for very expensive plants so you weren't really getting a bargain.

Very sad news about the Vionic chap - RIP.

Someone in the craft business told me DB got a % of the sales in her craft shows on QVC .It was quite a high one too

Straight commission would seem very unfair because as you say some items sell themselves e.g. an Elemis TSV launch whereas flogging some dodgy kitchen gadget in the middle of the day would be much harder. I would imagine they work to targets though but maybe based on the product type, day of the week, time of day etc..

She had some stamps she designed years ago and the odd kit which she helped design but I'm talking all sales not just the things she had a hand in producing.

I think Dawn had a major role in sourcing and possibly wholesaling the craft items on QVC. It would also account for the demise of craft on QVC and the former Q craft brands like Kanban following her to C&C.
