I see there's going to be a new series on the Food of Britain. Expect lots of warm words about 'sustainability', 'traceability', 'small producers' and 'supporting our local communities' whilst paying through the nose for very little.

What do we expect to see? Miniscule pieces of 'artisan' cheeses for £8 plus £5.95 P&P? Maybe a bottle of 'single estate' apple juice from some organic grower for £15 + £5.95 P&P. Tiny Christmas puddings which could be mistaken for a small after-dinner mint for £18?

Don't forget the worst bit.Presenters such as Charlie fawning over said products. Slowly cutting into a pudding for example as if it's about to explode. Then the obligatory 'umm' 'ohhh' 'so good. .so good'.Always the best ever.I think I'd sooner visit a local farmers'market and buy this kind of thing .Much fresher, can see what I'm buying, cheaper and the money going back into the pockets of the supplier. Also,no stupid spiel to endure.

I wonder if QVC will be lucky enough to secure the esteemed Andi Peters to present the shows? Did you know he came second on Celebrity Masterchef?

Makes me laugh all the presenters "mmmm" "mmmming" doesn't make a blind bit of difference because what's one persons "mmmm" is another's "oh poop! that's disgusting!!" :mysmilie_17:

I bet Charlie (the gannet) will be offering his services for the shows. I am just watching him on the real pie company and he can go from savory to sweet and back again without batting an eyelid, he ought to be the size of billy bunter if he eats like that at home....:mysmilie_5:

I've just seen the prices, £22 for a bit of cheese and a bit or chutney, £19 for a couple of bits of smoked salmon and then there's the postage. When I go up to Scotland I will be going to Loch Awe smoke house and getting, in my opinion the best smoked salmon in the UK and I can get almost a kilo for that price. Looks like it would be cheaper to shop at Fortnum and Mason rather than be ripped off by QVC and I would get free p&p if I spent £50...

Just had a quick look, £27 for a jar of chutney and a big blob of cheese. :mysmilie_15: oh my! :mysmilie_15: oh dear me! :mysmilie_15:

And of course it will be the best you can get and the taste will be out of this world...... If their opinion. About 20 miles from where I live there is an old fashioned grocer, butter from a tub and that sort of thing. Walk in and the smell is out of this world. They sell loads of quality products, not cheap I admit but based on QVC prices it's like the pound shop. That is where I shall be buying all of my Christmas goodies just like I have done for the past 10 or so years.

Ooooh sounds lovely, at least you can see what you're actually buying as well. QVCs prices are ridiculous, they are just way out of touch.

CH "How many biscuits are in each tin?"
Guest after pause and erm erm "about 9"
She quickly picked up tin and started waffling about the embossing blah blah blah for the ABOUT 9 biscuits.

Which doesn't ring true to me at all. If they were making those pies day in, day out, tasting as they go, they wouldn't be falling over themselves for more of the same on QVC. So, either they're doing it for effect, or the pies they present on air on QVC are an altogether more appetising prospect than the ones they produce on a daily basis and will be shipping to the customer!
