What a horrible thing to happen Nora, you must have been devastated.
My engagement ring, along with every other thing my first husband had bought me, was sold the day after we split up back in 1975.
Following that, I gave up all hope of a man smothering me in diamonds lol! So, after I parted with No2 and discovered TJC, I decided to treat myself. It was something I planned to do when I reached retirement but thought better to go for it while I was still working. I bought several rings, mainly diamonds, one of which looks like an engagement ring and I wear it on my right hand - a beautiful Asscher cut diamond with smaller diamonds running from shoulder to shoulder underneath. This was all before the financial crisis and I only buy silver and stainless steel these days!
Two I wear most of the time and the others when the occasion arises. 3/4 years ago was a great time to be buying and it was a wonderful opportunity to buy jewellery I could never have afforded from a jeweller. I've never regretted it.
Beautiful Sacha!Ah ha.....found pics of my two rainbow Sapphire rings and also one from QVC.....Blackhills by Coleman, sadly they've stopped selling this range now! The one on the left is much bigger irl, its quite a wide, weighty ring.
Your Asscher cut Diamond ring sounds wonderful Frazzled.

When I picked up my engagement ring I excitedly texted my OH to say I'd got it. I've kept the reply I got back from her, it says: "Cool. I'm cleaning the kitchen." RIP romance...
Really sorry to hear of your burglary Nora. Far worse to lose something of sentimenal value whether objectively valuable in monetary terms or not (trying to do that smilie that gives the other one a hug but having smilie trouble again!)
Toril - you are obviously in demand! Enjoy it! (and enjoy the bling too...)
Sacha one thing I wish I'd bought when QVC did Viva Las Vegas gems I think they were called was a rainbow sapphire. I find my mood is really affected by bright colours if that doesn't sound too daft?! Sometimes if I'm a bit low or tired and I look at primary colours I can literally feel my mood lift. I love rainbows for that reason I think. I also wish I'd got some Royal Congac diamonds - just to have a look at them even if they weren't keepers. Not a yellow gold person at all really but still used to like the look of the congac diamonds in the yellow gold.
Gemcherub WOW! I don't normally like solitaires, am much more into design (as you can probably see from my stuff) but that is spectacular. Looks *totally* clean to me, and I'd never believe it was an I (if I've got that right?) The IGI have been their usual harsh self there I think! I do love all kinds of step-cuts. Is it Frazz who's got an Asscher too? Losing the plot on my own threads! I *love* that cut too, really stylish. (PS: Frazzled - I get the feeling you've grafted for a long time for what you have - hope you *really* enjoy your upcoming retirement)
Gemcherub do you sell your stuff to buy the next piece or have you kept them all? Have you got some kind of vault welded to the concrete floor of your garage? And just what is the GPS of your house, if you don't mind sharing (where's the 'wink' smilie when you need it?!)
Thanks all for making this such a cool thread
Stuff romance, an OH that busies themselves 'cleaning the kitchen' whilst one busies oneself collecting pwetty fings from jewellers is a rare & wondrous AAAA treasure I would say!
p.s. That's just what my OH might say too to such a text! LOL
I sold quite alot on ebay to fund my habit lol I swapped a 1ct and a 1.30ct old cut solitaires for a 3ct but it wasn't a keeper and at the time the lucida came up so I went for that.
My bling buying days are over now. Well for now until Morgan grows up and gets rich
I just have my birthday and Christmas money to spend at auction then that will be it until next birthday.
GPS of my house is.....................sorry got to go Morgan needs me! lol
kitten that's a fab post - thankyou! Yes I'll say one thing for my missus, she knows how to clean. Puts me to shame!
I tell my kids that they need to keep me in the style to which I could very easily become accustomed! Am hoping one of them becomes a diamond merchant! I reckon if I keep whispering it in their ears from birth it might go in as some kind of subconscious subliminal message...
Typical that Morgan should drag you away at that moment. Kids have such a fab sense of timing!
Ha ha was on the phone to her at work when that came through - we did laugh! Actually my mad five year old is going to my mums for the weekend so with 'only' the baby to look after it'll feel like a holiday! We might actually get some sorting and tidying done (or I might spend some time window shopping for beautiful jewellery online!)
