I switched over! So annoying!

BTW I love your bunnies, reminds me of our first bunny Stuie, he was a black and white butterfly, and a legend! He even had tiny dots on his back leg "heels" and a 70s porn star droopy moustache. But I digress...

I was watching one of the beauty shows earlier today..can't recall whether it was Pipa or Anne Dawson but they had Emma Hardie as the guest. The presenter spent so long waffling on about reviews, the cloth and basically anything BUT the product! I wanted to know what items were in the set and why I should buy them. I don't care that people buy "3 of them". Just tell me what's in it please. In the end I tapped the App to find out, decided I didn't want it and gave up.

The worse thing that QVC did was to let the presenters on air with their iPad. Not only are we subjected to some of them ordering a product on their iPads, while live on air, but we have to listen to the banal drivel that's tweeted to them.

It's hardly professional.

I am the first to complain about presenters being on air with their i-pads, but surprisingly it never bothers me when Pipa does it.
I really enjoyed last nights show, even though I have got no interest whatsoever in Diamoneek.
I always enjoy Pipa when she's presenting a show on her own IFKWIM.

I've more or less given up watching QVC because of this twitter/blog/review pahlava, it's really difficult to glean anything pertinent to the product from all the chit-chat. Another thing that annoys me is all the stuff on screen nowadays - item details, something across the bottom, something down the r/h screen. Trying to actually see the item is like peering through a small viewing hole rubbed out of condensation on a window.

yes so annoying when you want to know what they are selling. They are busy waffling about anything but the item and you can't see because so much info on screen it's like looking through the keyhole/

Does anyone know if QVC America has been bitten by the Twitter bug ? Are the presenters there constantly checking their Eye Pads for the latest must have tweet ? Its an American company, but is this 'habit' purely a UK phenomenon ?

Yes,loads of complaints on QVC US community board about the tweeting etc. They started before the UK and do it just as much.

I think Q want to feel like they are in with the tech. Julia last night with Leighton Denny said to tweet in and she would read them out at the end of the show. Right idea.

I rarely watch qvc now but agree that on the odd occasion that I do, the tweeting and ipad stuff is a pain if there is in fact a product you might actually be interested in. Because I watch so little if there is an item I'm interest in I'll just online to view the video presentation, but that's when I get really frustrated. I was looking up a particular kipling bag, and in the three minute video presentation the camera almost entirely focused on the presenter/guest talking mundane rubbish and only a few seconds showing the actual bag. There was no point to them putting the video up at all.

QVC should only let the presenters read out tweets that are asking a question about the product, so that it can be answered while the 'expert' is there.

I can't understand the attraction of Twitter anyway because, personally, I've not got the time to let the internet millions know what I'm doing at a given second, but QVC have turned it into a 'fawning service.' ("I love your outfit," "I think you look lovely tonight," etc., etc.) I suppose it massages some of the presenters' egos though.

I hardly ever watch QVC now. I check on my pc what is on and the products. Much better. I can't stand the drivel. Pippa used to drive me mad with her constant talking up to the gallery and the person speaking to her in her earpiece. Now this has ben replaced with this blasted tweeting. I don't want to know what other people are saying, what their experiences are. It's a shopping channel for goodness sake. I want to look at things I may want to buy. Everyone I talk to about this agrees with me. A couple of friends who don't use a computer are checking the programme guides and if there is a show about a product they fancy seeing they get their kids or other half to check it out for them on the pc.

I quite enjoyed the way Pipa encouraged viewers to participate in the show by texting comments about their own OCDs. It was humourous and a bit of fun and somewhat entertaining. I even discovered that I'm not the only one with some of these quirks. Sure she could have said more about some of the Diamonique pieces but she kept the overall show from becoming boring. Cudos to Pipa. She can get away with it because it comes across as very natural whereas other presenters often awkwardly go to the iPad in search of a moment to share with the audience.
