QVC presenters are broadcasters as well as salespeople. Quite Often one of the more erudite presenters will have researched the products, e.g. gems, and give some interesting background information. They reach a very wide audience and as such, should verify any pronounciation they are unsure of. Incorrect pronounciation is almost as bad as misinformation and they are paid enough to ensure that what they are telling us is correct. I am not saying that regional accents should be banned, they add variety, but product information should be correctly pronounced. Just as they ensure it is spelt correctly.
While on my high horse, some of the female presenters definitely need to attend a course on how to present. I particularly objected to the way Julia constantly interrupted poor Ralph will silly remarks, and which earrings shall I wear now? Her vanity is now unwatchable. Ralph clearly loves his product and enjoys telling us about them. I had never heard of Keishi pearls and enjoyed learning about them. And no, if I had used the mute button, I would not have been able to hear what Ralph had to say.
I will not comment on the dress sense of these women, almost without exception it is dire.
