Here it a fruit flavoured drink (not suitable for vegatarians btw) at 3 quid a shot; ridiculously over packaged in individual dose glass bottles, metal lid cardboard boxed: http://www.qvcuk.com/Pure-Gold-Coll...t.401235.html?cm_sp=VIEWPOSITION-_-2-_-401235

So my question is: How can fish derived collagen survive the hydrochloric stomach acid and be processed by the body to boost facial collagen in a person? (My biologist mother is turning in her grave!) Or will you just achieve really expensive wee?

Secondly, check out the 5* reviews under the QVC item...they are all so similar to me; the "voice" they're written in sounds as though they've been written by the same person to me.

Thirdly, will the presenters be using their Quacker Factory duck call gizmo during the presentation of this item? I think they should!

Finally, does anyone know where I can buy Snake Oil...price no object!

(lots of cool HCl experiments on youtube if you're interested...nothing to do with collagen:

Don't try these at home

Hydrofluoric acid HL fun too if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oipksRhISfM (love this guy!)

Just plain weird: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ritaljhhk7s

Don't panic it's really me posting these youtube links, Akimbo hasn't been hacked by Julius:mysmilie_59:

I agree Akimbo, some of those reviews look very similar don't they?

Also, this is only a 10 day course, but according to the website info, it will take 3 weeks to stimulate skin hydration, 6 weeks for skin smoothness & 9 weeks to see skin firmness.

****** expensive if you ask me. It makes today's Perricone TSV look reasonably priced IMO.

They've been selling collagen capsules on IW for years .You have to take them for months regularly for the full effect .Ive always been sceptical. I don't see how they can work once it gets into the stomach .Apparanty it works from inside to firm the skin and replace lost collagen. It would be interesting to know if any posters have used them or any of the collagen products and to what effect.

Hmm There are a few articles on the subject but I can't vouch for their validity:

http://cosmedmd.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/collagen-supplements-do-they-really-work.html "The truth is, however, that there is little to no evidence that beauty supplements, pills and drinks can do what they claim. Collagen is a type of protein which when ingested, is broken down by the digestive system into individual amino acids to be recombined by cells according to their needs."

http://altmedicine.about.com/od/skinconditions/a/Collagen-Skin.htm "To date, very few studies have tested the health effects of collagen supplements."

You pays your money and you takes your choice...I just hope folk buying these keep a sceptical mind and return them if they see nothing in the way of results.

Personally I'm with Caroline Hirons on these products...
So I've decided to lob in a few choice quotes about collagen from various blog posts she's written...

From other posts she's done:

And from another one about acid toning...

Caroline is not anti-supplements, far from it, but she does advocate finding out, professionally, what you personally need... rather than following the herd.

... or swallowing it (as in Donna's post above about bovine collagen).

As far as I can see each of the six reviewers has only reviewed that product which makes me suspicious that the reviews aren't genuine.

Glad it's not just me. Very fishy :mysmilie_15: if you ask me!

When I was little, my siblings and I used to write thank you letters for presents that sounded a bit like this; all variations on a theme, such as "Thank you for the lovely X you sent for my birthday/Christmas. I am using it constantly." A lot like those template email responses QVC send me when I explicitly ask them to address my query without relying on stock replies! :mysmilie_10:

Could they be part of the legendary customer panel? Or alternatively perhaps there have been complimentary samples given to some customers to provide reviews. I won't speculate as to how they might have been selected, if that is the case...

These sort of things are aimed at gullible people I think. how on earth would the mbg work on this 10 day supply?

Lol! Q don't expect anyone with any scientific knowledge to be buying their products, let alone reading their nonsensical claims and faux reviews!

Anne Dawson was suggesting that we might use it for a year. That's over £1000!! As others have said better spend it on good healthy food.

The danger with quackery like this is buyers who invest say £300+ on auto delivery and take the drinks will feel foolish if they see no improvement, cancel the auto-delivery but never speak about it through embarrassment (like the elderly falling for telephone and postal scams but don't discuss it with their family). A few will tell their friends or post on social media about how they believed the hype but either returned it or post how foolish they feel about it. A third group will think it must be good, because they've invested time and money - like the Emperor's New Clothes. Whatever happens the brand has shifted quite a few units.
