Christmas with Yankee Candle TSV 29/10/16

I had a quick look at YC US and see they have about 10 Portrait jars in the large jar section and a real mix of old and new labels. And as you say about Frosting being different, may, I bought two Portrait sets and they each had a sweet pea, both different labels. I think the same might be true of lavender and holiday plum as well. To my mind they are in a bit of a pickle, label-wise.

I wonder if the supply to Q has been affected by the current exchange rate? Q demanding (for example) a unit price of £10 would only get them $12 or so now rather than $15. Or if they deal in $, Q may be thinking there is no way viewers will pay the sterling equivalent.

Most annoyingly I have come down with a terrible cold so can no longer actually smell the two candles I am burning at all now! Country Heather and Stargazer Lily. Very nice a few days ago though!

last years ad christmas was not my favourite xmas scents. i would love red apple wreath, christmas eve and a nice fresh tree scent or christmas memories in a collection

I was burning Red Apple Wreath last night - had forgotten how lovely it is.

Not really my cup of tea (or cappuccino) but I'm sure a lot of people will love them. Have QVC ever had a set of four large jars before? I've never seen that.

I think you're right. I've seen (and bought) threes. I did once get a set of four medium jars many moons ago, but never 4.

We need the more seasoned experts to confirm or deny though. I'm a rank amateur on Yankee Candles compared to some :mysmilie_43:

I have never seen a set of four on Q. I wonder if the P&P will go up from £5.95. I bet they will be a good price, but I only really fancy soft and cozy so I am out. Note to self: do not be tempted just because it is a bargain price!

I am really confused about those labels - as you say, they have several versions for some fragrances (Sweet Pea, Sunrise, Holiday Plum, etc).

Get well soon, Mazza. Look on the bright side - at least you don't need to buy Poo Pourri! Not that you would anyway!

Good luck with that!

Soft & Cozy sounds too like Clean Cotten/Soft Blanket/Fluffy Towels for my liking.

I would try and hang tough if you can... someone will get this and not like Soft & Cozy... so it could end up on eBay and a nice price with any luck!

If it were related to how many candles a person owned, I would be a platinum level connoisseur but, like you, I'm not "seasoned", having only got into them in 2014.

Actually, assuming the ADs are honoured (yeah right) I have two lots of festive ones to come so six more jars to cram into the emergency storage bags! And that is not including the non-appearing WJ set. So I am definitely planning to avoid this set. But of course they may sell out and do an OTO...

That's exactly my weakness but I have got better. Also, those four particular scents don't seem like anything new to me and I'm fed up of vanilla and laundry scents now. I reckon I can resist. Just don't let them be £24.99 and free P&P!

I'm quite curious to know what the ones in the final AD from the March TSV (namely Bubbly Pomegranate, Spiced White Cocoa and Christmas Thyme) are like. Are they in the shops, does anyone know?

Soft & Cozy is the only one of the four I really fancy, the OH would probably like Frosting though. Neither of us would enjoy Rose or Cappuccino though so will probably give this one a miss.

Don't fancy these at all. Was hoping for something festive too. My husband came in after he had been to the football with a Yankee advent calendar for me! I can't believe it as he is not a fan of scented candles.

The scents in the AD from March are USA scents... so will be in shops alright - just not this side of the Atlantic Ocean.

If you go onto YC's US website you can get info on the fragrance notes, I think.

Oh, I think I shall be able to resist this set! Thank goodness. Frosting is not for me, and the others are OK but not stunning.

I wonder what is happening with YC and Q supplies then. Clearly something has gone amiss. We have had all the AD issues and now this. Yet all the online shops seem to have their UK scents supplied, no problem. Does this ever get addressed anywhere, like on FB? I wish they would let us know what is going on.

What is the point of putting up all these ADs when you cannot complete them? and as they generate the most sales on Day 1 (afternwhich some are no longer available), YC know 60 or 90 days ahead what numbers they need to produce. Seems easy to me, so why is it going wrong?

Couldn't agree more, Q really couldn't organise a p*ss up in a brewery! Auto deliveries are such a money spinner, how hard can it be for a company of Q's size to organise four nice collections (of equal value, Tarte!), take the orders, acquire / manufacture the stock, and fulfil the deliveries within the specified timeframe?

Aww, hope you feel better soon Mazza xx

How lovely! I had a Yankee advent calendar last year, and I really enjoyed it.

I've got a feeling this might be another TSV that dies on it's arse. I know it is(!), but it feels like a cobbled together after thought, and it doesn't bode well for them if we're all thinking we won't be tempted. Think something seasonal (as was the original plan) would have been much more popular for festive home fragrancing / gifting. It's not a set that screams Christmas present to me. I only really like the sound of the Soft & Cosy (Rose at a push), so won't be tempted. There's 3hrs of Yankee on the day, though, so hopefully there'll be some other nice bits and pieces.

Having taken another look at these, I think the labels look pretty rubbish, especially Frosting and Rose. The candles look as if they come from Woolies! Just my opinion of course!!!!

I also reckon these will come in between £41&45 including postage. So 4 Portraits for the price of 3 effectively.
