I try to watch the Gemporia advert at least once. Sometimes they're good, sometimes they're not. But ALL times, (this one) they are overplayed and become annoying. Yes, most adverts are like that, but some I do like to watch more than once. This is a comment that's going nowhere, but I thought I'd say something about it anyway

The ads are like the rest of Gemporia's offerings these days, everything is overplayed and annoying, especially most of the presenters!
Boring, Boring, oh so Boring, the lot of them!

I bet Ellis loves having a new Christmas advert. It gives her something new to cut to every two minutes alongside 'game of trust' and 'Christiano, show everyone how to buy' VTs (just in case they forgot how to buy during the 2 minutes they previously showed everyone how to buy)

Even though this comment isn't Christmas related, it is VT related. Is it just me or do Gems need to update their VTs? Yesterday I heard Ruth Linnett 'doing' a skit. Today I've seen a VT going back to almost the year dot. Vikki Carr, a 'rounder' SB, and relating to when they had the Serenite mine (Oregon Sunstone, or whatever it's now called.) Updates, please and thank you.

When they do a Zircon show, they still play the VT of Matt Macnamara talking about Cubic Zirconia and throwing the stone into the distance. He left about 9 years ago!

They occasionally show Scott Worsfold going down the Tanzanite mine too. He left over 10 years ago! Ellis replaced Scott.

Although I'd rather they show those than the patronising VTs of Jake banging on the wall behind him shouting "Golllldddddd" or "INDIA SAYS STOP!!!".

Or on Gem Collector, shouting "Geee Seeee" and "Treasure", like the opening to some 1950s children's TV show. And not forgetting "I salute you"

(and before anyone gets all uppity, this is just a snapshot. He does finish the arm movement to a full Scouts salute!)

I cringe every time I hear "I salute you".

The guy couldn't be any more patronising if he tried.

I find Jake to be totally false, obnoxious and unlikeable.

I presume it's obvious what that salute reminds me of. And no, I haven't seen his doing that on the channel.

I agree, annoying. And shouldn't that now be China.... After all, I can't remember the last time 'they' said our team in India, it's usually China.

A bit silly, I know, but the obvious abandonment of the Jaipur cutting school etc I find a bit sad actually. Was part of what I liked about the Gems TV brand all those years ago.

It makes you wonder why stones are no longer cut in Jaipur after Steve Bennett made a big deal of announcing that he was going over there, shortly after Colin Wagstaffe was sacked, and him and Sarah were running the show again.

Steve and Sarah running the show appeared to be short-lived because Jake was soon handed the reigns instead - so I wonder if Steve actually bothered going to Jaipur after all?

He seems to have zero interest in jewellery these days. His appearances seem limited to health or bamboo products.

The quality of the cutting on a lot of the Gem Collector stones looks terrible these days. No wonder the camera is on Emily more than it is the stones (probably to hide the quality of the stones, plus Emily seems to think that people tune in to watch her rather than loose gemstones.)

He looks a bit red there. I wonder if its because his shirt is that tight, it's limiting his breathing?
