I can`t watch the Charlie bear shows, they make me cringe and I feel like slapping some sense into the presenters and guests. They`re stuffed bears fgs, not real, they`re expensive tat, they don`t replace pets or people and they don`t have " personalities " !

Totally agree

There is only one thing wrong with ANY collection, whether its overpriced stuffed bears, stamps, toilet lids, lawnmowers, china frogs or cd's etc etc and that's if you happen to die - whether young or old, then some poor sod has to dispose of it !!!! and I know this from experience................. getting rid of 650 country and western cd's was no joke.

So, think on before you fork out good money on a stuffed toy, once you are gone, those toys or bears wont be worth a sausage, and will finish up lining the shelves of a charity shop !!!!!

Alternatively, shrouds don't have pockets and if collecting something has given you immense pleasure before you shuffled off this mortal coil and you could afford it, then crack on!

I'm not into Charlie Bears at all, but I do know some fellow forumites on both here and CT.com who love them.

Sorry to read about your Grandma, Iain, things must be very tough for you at the moment.

not bothered by the bears, each to their own. What does spook me is that couple - do they really think of the bears as "beings" ? Tbh to me they seem more like brother and sister than hubby and wifey.

Although I do like a couple of the bears - Raffles, the blue one is quite nice - not as collectibles. I do collect quality bears; the majority of charlie bears are plush and, when they are mohair they are, in the main, not limited editions - if they are, they can cost way over £200, so they are not economically priced, as the guests allege. The mini - mo bears are hugely overpriced for the size of them. I bought once from this range - the LE rhubarb and crumble duo, and would not buy again, as the quality is just not there. It's a case of you get what you pay for with the plush. Spending nearly £300 on a bear, it would be a collectible bear which would have value to it, not a 'cut corners' toy. I think it is very telling that they are suitable or children over 3!
I see Charlotte was trying to appear intelligent afain, with the glasses! This couple always seem to grate on my nerves. They just don't seem genuine.

Not necessarily.
They might end up being very glad of your inheritance.
A friend of mine recently had contend with her father's collecting obsession. The complaints soon stopped when the money started to roll in from the auction house, far more than if he'd just stuffed the cash he'd spent on it in a bank account.

All very well if the collections ARE worth money, but most 'stuff' in most peoples houses I doubt would warrant being auctioned off for a few bob. I still maintain that hundreds of anything, is still a pain to get rid of.

They remind me of The Carpenters (brother and sister singing act) I love Karen Carpenter's songs.

There is something decidedly odd about that couple with the bears. I can hardly BEAR watching them! hahahahaha! I just don't know what it is - but SOMETHING! She seems a bit cringey in a syrupy, slightly patronising Lulu Guinness way. She looks like she's hosting an Ann Summers party, going all orgasmic about her stupid bits of plush! And that guy! Hmm! Don't know! Last night they were on talking about Yaris bear, supposedly inspired by a guide dog. I thought is was inspired by a small city hatchback! It was like watching a suet and sugar pudding, with Charlie Brook being like a can of treacle poured on top. I don't get it. But it's better than the dolls and crafting and that stupid old bag who used to think that hurling glitter at a camera was spreading light into the world!

Good grief!! How harsh do you sound?? "Dear X Please stop collecting something you take great pleasure from just in case i have to dispose of it when your gone" There is nothing wrong with collecting any item that you like our gives you pleasure, and as for Charlie Bears, I'm with Ian, have a reasonable collection and enjoy them all. I won't be stopping collecting any time soon, regardless if someone has to dispose of them at a later date.

Exactly Tabs!
Why should anyone have to live their life constantly having to consider how difficult it might be to dispose of their belongings after they're dead!
Words fail me!

Should be glad that the person had an interest that made them happy & grateful for any inheritance they might be lucky to get.

I prefer the bears u win at the sea side on the machines, they look about the same quality as Charlie bears and are alot more fun and cheaper!!!:giggle:, i do wonder if i start talking to the bears in the machines and giving them names if they may grab hold of the Claw in the machine more often :smirk:
