The BBC has yet again proved, why I have made the right choice in not going 'smart'. I like to think that I am 'tech savvy' and I am the 'go to' person amongst family and friends, but one thing I have always resisted against is Social Media (facebook and twitter etc, I mean do I really need to know when 'little Johnny took his first poo'?), and never to use a voice controlled assistant. There have been numerous articles about 'Big Brother' listening all the time and despite the assurances from the companies in question (Amazon in particular here), other articles have no nothing to allay the fears. Now, today on the BBC website there is this article with regards to the Ring Doorbell,
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-53985418
Whilst initially the article maybe seem to be American based, the bottom with regards to Wiltshire Police, is a bit 'scary', in that how far are they going to be using their technology to 'spy' on others. I understand that there is some good that can come out of these devices and that if one is in Australia (when travel once again permits), to tell a delivery driver to leave the package behind the bins, but please, either do not order when going on holiday, or ask a neighbour to take the package in. I mean I know that at the moment we are Social Distancing but there will be a time (and soon hopefully) when we can 'rediscover' talking again!
