My OH is welcome to watch as much footie as he likes today. Seriously bored with the qvc menu. I know SBC has its fans but I've never been remotely tempted to try it. What does it offer that other brands dont and why doesn't it have a higher profile in the beauty industry?

SBC is a professional brand that has been around a long time in the industry as it was one of the first brands I used when training as a therapist. It's a brand that is used mainly in treatments and up until QVC was unavailable to the public.

I personally only use the Collagen gel with my microcurrent machine but do know of salons that use this range. SBC also do make up and fab make up brushes but think these are only available to students in beauty therapy.

For the first time in five years, I haven't watched a single minute of Beauty Day, nor have I bought anything. Usually, I would have ordered 3 or 4 things by this stage of the day, then immediately regret it. I ran out of eye cream this weekend. I could have ordered one from QVC but went to TK Maxx instead and bought one from a respected Italian company for £5.99. I would probably have paid roughly that amount in P&P if I had ordered from QVC today. By the way, loads of Gayle Hayman in TKM just now if anyone's interested.

Yes I noticed a good bit of Gale Hayman in TKM too. The giant size cleansers being one.

I keep finding myself tempted by the TSV when I flick on for 5 mins.:taphead:
The OPI was also luring me. But then I went to ebay and bought two full size Essie current Fall season polishes for £11.03 including shipping.

Sew Psyched a griege green and Velvet Voyeur a chocolate amthyest.

The Resident Beauty Expert brought it to QVC herself.

The prices on QVC especially the TSV's outdo the trade price and I confess that today I have purchased this set. Giving my mum the Arnica soak and gel and I'm keeping the rest.

The Collagen is a bargain for that size as the brand I usually use costs £80 for a litre (salon only wholesale) and then you have to add VAT.

I've often bought this when at trade shows but boy are they heavy once you have a few bottles especially the 500ml or litre!

Thanks MsTrouble. The range has QVC staying power so I'm glad you could shed a bit more light on the mystery for me.

MsTrouble is the collagen gel good for firming as AY insists?

It would only be firming in the sense that a gel would give a 'firming feeling' on the skin but Collagen gel firming skin - no, it can only moisturise and plump skin but if used with microcurrent then it gives conductivity to the muscles and stimulates collagen production as would using glycolic acid, AHA's/BHA's.

Collagen in skin care products are good moisturisers but cannot affect the skin's own collagen which if it did would have an effect on firmness.

Thanks for all your info MsTrouble! I have just put a thick layer of collagen gel on my face, neck and decollete (sp?) whilst in the bath, and my skin feels lush now! I have indulged in the TSV as I am hoping to start a body massage course at the end of the month, and thought these may come in handy when practising on hubby!! I have just checked out their website and they sell the make-up and brushes there. The brushes look really good, and are reasonably priced too. Lots of information and dowloads available

Blimey I'm missing out here. Haven't been to TKM for ages. Will have to go & have a snoop around.

They are not very good as body massage gels because they are water based and therefore don't last long enough for a proper massage as you need plenty of 'slip' unless you use loads which I wouldn't do as it becomes tacky. What you can use on men that gives slip and doesn't tangle hairs is talc. This always make me chuckle as you never sprinkle a client with talc as you would on yourself, always into the hands first before applying!

For a short facial massage the gels would be ok.

Good luck with the course!

Hi MsTrouble:wave:!
In case you don't notice, I've just sent you a private message (sorry fairly new, not sure of how the whole system works!). If you don't mind, would you please respond when convenient? I'd love to hear your opinion. Ta in advance!!

They still have the Beauty Day four easy pay on the Web Only offers.

Me thinks perhaps they didn't actually sell as much as they expected.

 Aye, that and the fact that the website conveniently went down again just like it did last Beauty Day. Suspicious, moi? :call:

I was just thinking the same thing - another event day, another online competition, another series of online offers - and whoops, their web platform capitulates completely. It's a shocka an no mistake :giggle:
