I hear that Alexandria Hayden is leaving (I believe she is usually on The Lounge) but has worked at Gems for several years. I liked her style of presenting, frank and straight to the point. Although I don't watch much of Gems/The Lounge these days, I will be sad to see her go.

Thats a shame. She used to be on late on Gems and I liked her too. What is happening at Gems. The decent ones seem to be going.

Totally agree,in fact Alexandria is much better than all of the new presenters on The Lounge,it has really gone down the pan.I dont know about the presenters jumping ship,i suspect a lot of established buyers at gems have too judging by the feefo remarks, many have started shopping at TJC instead as they are saying the colour in the gemstones are better.Maybe instead of writing gemstone books Mr.Bennett should write a novel entitled How to ruin your own business.

I so agree with you. Because of other commitments, I've not been watching a lot lately, but I thought it was getting worse and worse. I think Steve Bennett has lost the plot over the past year - 18 months, as one established and well-liked presenter has left after another. Get a grip, Mr Bennett. There seems to be the favoured few presenters - Rod, Lynn, Nick, Angeline - and they are the only ones who stay put because they seem to do what hours they like, and everyone else is stuck with the cruddy time slots.

Most of the younger presenters on The Lounge were all moved to the dead of night shifts, which is a shame as they had more personality and had built rapor with the customers, which means nothing to the gems management, they just dont seem to get it and think the customers wont get fed up with it all and go somewhere else.Customers are still complaining about the graphics being too small, the hike in prices, the endless shouting of presenters and now the new format of Non stop drop,of which i know little but someone on gemporia facebook said was misleading in that it wasnt genuine in its format, now if that is correct,it seems to be a fine line they are treading in regards to the advertiising standards. One customer said it was like watching some really tacky games show and thought it downgraded the whole brand and i would agree with that view.

If I had been at Gems as long as Angeline etc. I would be a bit miffed if I had to change my hours to suit new presenters. Loyalty to an employer deserves something in return.
I suspect that the younger presenters are moving on to further their careers - get some experience elsewhere and move on up!

I would agree that you cannot blame the established presenters who should be rewarded for sticking with the same company.I was speaking specifically about presenters on the Lounge who were moved back onto the night shift mostly to accommodate presenters from Rocks when it closed down and the fact that in my opinion they are not as good from a customers view.Angeline is indeed loyal to the company, i once saw her auction a AA Tanzanite ring as her deal of the day stating the customer would never get a better price deal than hers, four hours later the identical ring was auctioned at 50 pounds less.According to two feefo reviews she auctioned recently a gold chain of approx 1g weight but no a mistake had been made, the chain was almost 5g and then weighed it on digital scales with sheridan her producer, what a bargain, however people did not receive the 5g,they received the 1g,that to me is misleading at best, a fine line i think.

they say non stop auctions but whenever I switch on and angeline is on, it's just her opening gifts she has been sent by viewers.

we get it. you are the star of the channel.

I'm thinking that its difficult times in the world of shopping television when it comes to jewellery.
Rocks & Co becoming Rocks & Gold Outlet, becoming Rocks & Co Outlet (because the presenters couldn't get the hang of the change of name) must take the wind out of the sails for Mr Bennett so that he will try any trick to keep his sales up. His reliance on the cheaper end of the market and what seems to be mostly silver offerings would give him better options for volume I guess. From my experience diamonds have always been better quality from Rocks and with the introduction of Cavill Diamonds all of which seem to be a minimum of SI vs Gemporia selling their 'Thomas Rae' 'top shelf' diamonds which if you read the gem details you will see are most often I2-3 . Now the 'below cost' Rocks offering must be even more distracting. The Rocks format is not informative as Gemporia often is, presenters are limited to 'Ooooh this is nice - name item - gone, gone, gone!'
As for Gemporia pricing you certainly have to keep an eye on them and be ready to claim a price pledge. Everyone is selling items at the 'best' price all of the time. I had an opal ring that I bought for £90, next day it was £80 so I claimed a price pledge and a few days later £129 was 'an unbelievable price' - the subtleties of the English and marketing language! But I see that tomorrow TJC are having a diamond day - I don't know their offering, should I fear frozen spit? They all have their entertaining aspects. But at all times 'buyer beware' I'd suggest.

I never watch any jewellery channels, basically because I like to see what I'm buy in the flesh, but I've got to say I'm absolutely gob smacked! Just turned over to The Jewellery Channel and there's Alicia Douvall, the kiss and tell queen who specialises in footballers and had that many face lifts she shaves of a morning, selling Argan Oil moisturiser for £20 looking an absolute state, I think this is the beginning of the end of the amateur channel.

Now she's selling her cleanser and for the 150ml the start price was £120.99. :mysmilie_15: :mysmilie_15:

I did watch Gems Tv on and off, out of curiosity, when it first started, I know he mostly employs relatives because I watched that documentary he did about his company, and was surprised just how many relatives he does employ. I can't get on board with those channels were the price starts at £1.599 going down to £9.50, I don't like Steve Bennett (smug) or his wife, who seems to love flashing their opulence, then wonders why no one wants to add to his lavish lifestyle buying from him.
