I know it’s a reasonable price but I’m sure I read somewhere that it’s not a full android operating system. Amazon changed it a few years ago to their version. Don’t know if this true. Couldn’t face LH waffling on to Alexa and not giving the full technical specs.

Oh for the days of Tim Goodwin and L J Rich.

Amazon Fire Tablets have never had full Android systems.

All Amazon tablets run on a properitary version of Android Amazon heavily reskin and call FireOS. Many other companies do this - using whats called the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) as the basis for what they run. The Android in your Google Pixel phones by comparison is diffferent - Samsung also use this same version of Android as the basis of their phones and tablets but reskin the launcher with their own OneUI interface.

My Nokia Android is completely different to my daughter's Samsung Android, she couldn't even use my phone to show me how to use it, so I don't.
Many companies put their own custom front ends on . Is why you often see Google promote the Pixel phone as "native Android experience". Its all the same under the hood when you get something from Lenovo, Nokia, Samsung etc - its just the user interface has been changed so as you say one handset to the next isn't always the same user experience.
