Read in a Sunday supplement that Amanda Wakeley is coming to Q at the end of September. The article featured a couple of her bags at Lulu Guinness prices - so serious competition there ! The usual spiel of "a great opportunity to reach a wider audience" is translated to mean more mugs to part with their money ! Clearly been talking to Kelly Hoppen no doubt ! I'll never forget her off-air remark when she thought her mic was off, saying "thats another £60,000 made".

I had been thinking of treating myself to some super duper high thread count sheets and have been considering some Kelly H's but after reading that little snippet (that's another £60,000) no, no, no. Will take myself off to the 'high street' and look at Dorma etc, it is the little people like us that line the likes of KH's coffers while she sits rubbing her hands.

And doesn't that just sum it up! Can you imagine what the fabled Yong Kim says at the end of a show after shilling £175 jersey tops.

I love several of these bags but can't justify spending over £300 pounds. A nice little earner for the designers .

I agree boffy ,I wish it was clothes too. I might shell out a bit more for some decent fashion.

I only like the first one on the list but I'm not sure I would pay £300. There are so many designer outlets and sales where you can get designer bags at this kind of price or less. Bicester Village gets my vote for handbag shopping. And I'd rather pay £200 for a bag in the sale that was originally priced at £500 than shell out £300 to get it before it goes in the sale.

I've just picked up two beautiful LG bags for less than a third of the full price. Pre-loved but hardly used. Why would I pay £350 when I can get them for £99?!

Once they've made their name in the clothes line, its the usual format for the (top) designers to go down the handbag route - and to make even more dosh they bring out a range of home furnishings/perfume/jewellery with their name attached to it.

They know that most women can't resist a handbag, and a designer name gives that little bit of cache. I know of one woman who has named her house Mulberry Cottage - not after the tree, but her collection of handbags !! The clothing lines of top designers are generally too small and abortively expensive for the normal/average woman, but a handbag fits everyone, and they are easier to store in a warehouse for despatch.

Just imagine Eek House, Candle Corner, Bear with me, Monkey madness cottage, Yong kim yacht, Berlini Bungalow, Antt Apartment, Lulu Costa Lot, which QVC sycophants can name their houses or belongings. The list is endless.
