Can't say that I'm impressed by any of the Christmas ads so far!

Oh I actually like the Waitrose one: great cast and I have a massive soft spot for Matthew Macfadyen!
Plus I do sort of want to know “whodunnit”! And it’s a bit different from your standard offering!

Also liked the fact the Lidl one is focused on their charity toy bank rather than promoting their wares directly, tho it is a little (lot!) cheesey!

I have to say, however, most of them this year do seem to come across as mere shopping lists for the brand…

I hope they’re pretty accurate. I notice I gave the wrong price for the La Soie set (£9.99) and I think I got a couple of RRPs wrong, eg the La Mer originals, for which it looks like I gave a retailer’s discounted prices. But if you buy the La Soie serum for £6.99, you are still saving a fortune whether the La Mer one is £375 or £300. (I mean, who pays that for a face product anyway, apart from men with too much money for their wives and mistresses?)

They’re all over the place with their launches and stock on given dates, it seems. (I’m just back from my local and they had the setting spray that the leaflet said was delayed.) They are also all over the place with their stock in store, literally: I went to the middle where the beauty specials usually are and they had a limited selection (quite a lot of all the perfumes, lip kits and the honey-infused hair stuff) but various other things were scattered in other aisles, like next to toys and bedding. I had to go on a proper hunt in every nook and cranny, taking my time so as not to miss anything. You know how dedicated I am!

Been to Aldi today and the delivery did not arrive!!

They didn’t have any of the La Soie (La Mer), Caviar Gold (La Prairie) or Bonded (Olaplex) ranges here. I accosted an assistant who said if it is meant to be in on a certain day but isn’t, they don’t then get it later that week (but as we know, it may turn up a few weeks later). If your store didn’t get a delivery at all, it could be because of no driver or lorry breakdown or something and maybe it will turn up tomorrow or with the Sunday stuff?

I did spot two little caches of the Kerastase copy shampoo and conditioner (reduced), the two Elemis cleansing balms and that Sleep range.

I spoke to a floor staff, who happend to be the manager, and he checked on his tablet and said that the rest was coming on Saturday and so it did. What I'm trying to say is, that they know when the rest should be delivered in their particular store.

Interesting. It must vary by store. The **** I spoke to was very helpful and quite happy to stop her work to chat, but perhaps she didn’t know much about the beauty. When I mentioned that it was popular because it’s copies of expensive brands, she was amazed! Obviously doesn’t read this forum!

I had popped into my local dept store before I went, to test the Estée Lauder originals. As soon as I smelt the EL Infinite Sky in the bottle, I knew it wasn’t for me so I avoided that in Aldi. They didn’t have the EL Radiant Mirage to test in the dept store but someone had opened one of each box in Aldi to use as testers so I tried the equivalent, Radiant Majesty, and liked it so that one has come home with me. It’s quite powdery. I wouldn’t pay £140 from EL and I’ve no idea if they’re similar, but I’m happy with it for £6.99.

What is everyone else after?

I see the Instagrammer who did the perfume comparisons Marina posted has done a little vid about her trip to Aldi today. She seems to have found the same selection and none of the skincare, like me.
