A Whiff of Old

I emailed QVC to say that probably at least 90% of customers would be women I got a reply saying they were sorry for any offence caused.
What a bollox reply! Just trying to shut you up - It's a pity they'd rather "offend" the 90% than risk upsetting the minority. It's easy enough to acknowledge everybody, "bridesmaids or wedding attendants." There is no need to erase male or female terminology!

AY is a disgrace to the female population SHE could do with cancelling!!!!!
I'm 75 later this year and I remember the fight for equality and equal pay. Working in an office and women weren't allowed to be paid monthly or join a pension scheme.

It was the use of the word bridesmaids that she took offence to. AY said to the lady that we are not allowed to use that word anymore.
Probably because no one ever asked her to be a bridesmaid.

Why don’t qvc ask the acclaimed beauty specialist,to apologise for the offence she has caused to females.
I don’t know how anyone can put up with this tail wagging the dog bo***cks 😤

Just Musk and Blasé! Two of my favourites, and I remember loving Stevie B and Dana Tabu. My first foray into expensive perfume was Rive Gauche, in a wonderful Silver, Blue and Black canister. My older sisters were Yardley fans - I can remember them squabbling over Freesia and Bond Street! Happy Days 🥰
I used to wear Rive Gauche, loved it!

But, But, But. What is going to happen with Diamonique? Always pushing sets as perfect gifts for bridesmaids.
And the old favourite - 'Mother Of The Bride' outfits. Do they become 'Person Who Has Given Birth Outfits'? Which, presumably, will be a Frank Usher crystal-studded doughnut shaped haemmorhoid cushion.

have you seen any?

Thing is, the elderly of yesteryear are not the same as the elderly of today (I'm 75) So to refer to an "old person's smell" is a bit of an insult. My Mum and Gran"s generation never grew up with deodorant so used lots of talc after washing, so it was easy to have a 'smell'. My generation started off with a roll on deodorant until aerosols came on the market. There is no excuse today for any generation to suffer with body odour if they have a personal hygiene regime. Even the odours of urine incontinence can be overcome.

As a mother to a daughter and a grandmother to two granddaughters I, obviously, have deep concerns with everything female being reduced to a taboo subject. Would I feel differently if I wasn’t a mum or nanna, no but my concerns go deeper for them and their generation and for their future. QVC knee jerk response is frankly laughable when in the blink of an eye they’d change their stance if respect for females was on the agenda. Running scared is not a good look. I’d like to hear from a bridal shop owner what they now call bridesmaids dresses.

This fad for labelling all sorts of commonly used words unacceptable will eventually run out of steam and common sense will return. What's the point of gender if we're not allowed by these self-appointed guardians of our morals to describe it?

Scrupulous personal hygiene eliminates body odour as well as wearing washed clothing. A British resident in Italy (an online group I subscribe to) recently visited the UK for ten days and reported back to the group when she returned that the weather had been so mild, she hadn't needed to shower once. How wrong was she!!

One of clients who came to the hair salon where I worked spent a lot of time in Japan, due to her husbands job. She said Japanese people thought western people smelled of milk, as our diet is high in dairy, and theirs is not.
