We're also had a bag and purse with a credit card in it mentioned on here too, haven't we?

Well that explains a lot PAL. I recently order a pair of Marta Johnnson shoes on last clicks and they arrived with a complimentary tea bag in one shoe!!

They very definitely do send out returned items, and I have received one or two myself, as have many other forum members. Many items have been really minging, with disgusting stains and smells you'd think folk would be ashamed of - but apparently some folk have no shame whatsoever.
We've had many a thread on the topic over the years, and for a while I know that we were encouraging one another to place a teabag in the pocket or tucked inside everything we returned!

We guessed it wouldn't be long before our teabags were cropping up in other forum members purchases! It just demonstartes that the items are not checked prior to being sent back out.
I must admit I have mixed feelings on the subject of returns. Obviously, I wouldn't want to receive used earrings or stained clothing, but if I buy a dress from M&S (for example) it may well have been a store return, and I'd probably be none the wiser. If it's just been tried on and returned because it didn't fit, then that's fine as far as I'm concerned. If someone has worn it for a night on the town though, then it's definitely not OK.
The difference, I guess, is that at M&S someone takes the responsibility for discriminating between what can be offered for resale and what cannot.

QVC seem to be total unable to see what returns have been worn and what haven't. I think it totally wrong to send out a return to a customer via the Home Shopping Channel, as they then have the bother of having to contact QVC for a return label and have to take the item to the Post Office to await their refund.

By far the most disgusting return I have ever seen in the Warrington store, was a pair of Carole Hochman pyjamas. The trousers had 'feminine' stains on them, I wouldn't have had the bare faced cheek to return them to QVC.

During the one and only time I have visited the Birchwood store several years ago I saw a set of pans each of which had food in them, the worst being stuck-on baked beans!! I just couldn't imagine returning anything in that condition, it's disgusting. OK, maybe the returner was trying to prove the point that the non-stick surface didn't actually work or something but surely they could have cleaned them up. There were some of the cheaper ice-cream makers too caked in failed attempts to create the product!

I suppose at least in the outlet stores they are 'up front' about the products being returns. Fair enough, and let the buyer beware. But how many of us have received used items direct from QVC and then been lied to by customer services insisting that they 'never send out returns'?

I take your point P-A-L as at least the buyer can see the items. I know that I've received returned goods direct from them but they always deny it. As well as a few items of clothing where the labels have clearly been torn off and then they've either been worn or just tried on and then stuffed back into the plastic bag I've had long dark hairs caught in the clasp of a necklace which certainly haven't come off my head because mine are short and mousey!

It made me laugh so much to see that a forumite has received a tea bag :D I can just imagine the "WTF?" moment when a non-forumite finds a complimentary bag of Tetley's in their item! :D

The worst I've seen are K&Co trousers that clearly had been worn a fair bit before being returned and a sterling silver ring that was scratched to buggery and had the last owner's flaky skin all over it! The ring was so badly marked that I couldn't help but wonder if it had been forcefully removed after a hand got too close to rotating machinery. That really grossed me out. QVC weren't exactly apologetic either and I do wish I'd taken it to a higher authority.

you're right p-a-l we have - and it always provokes an argument as to whether it's ok or not (i think it's definitely NOT ok). it shouldn't be up to someone to decide whether something is unworn or not.

it also always provides a few laughs however - my favs being the teabag, the curry pong and the trousers split up the backside. :giggle:

I've posted this here before but I bought a pair of linen trousers from M&S without trying them on and couldn't believe it when I got them home and discovered that there were split from waist to nether regions. I had a bugger of a job to convince the customer services I hadn't done. I could the staff and everyone in the queue eyeing up my chubby backside. At least with QVC I could have phoned up and just got a returns label!

Even if they escape the notice of the warehouse staff you know the type who is on auto pilate and wouldn`t notice a bomb!! You would think the asssitants/women in the outlet store would be more vigilant about something like that !!

every time we have this discussion, m&s comes up but it is a pointless comparison imo. (don't mean if it's faulty obviously tinkerbelle, heheheeee).

m&s do NOT encourage you to wear the item and then return it if you change yur mind. they accept returns yes but the item is supposed to be in the same condition as it was when you bought it.

From what I understand QVC scan the parcel when it comes into the website via the front sticker.

After that,I don't know - does it just get chucked in some huge skip or something, until someone trollies through it and puts the stock back into the warehouse?

The problem is,they're not going through the items, with a fine toothcomb.

I'll use topshop as an example - I've even stood in a queue whilst we've waited for sales assistants to smell the returned item.QVC are hardly doing that.

i actually have nothing against QVC sending out returns,if they are in suitable condition.I hardly use my 30 day MBG,I know as soon as I open the packet whether its for me or not.I may at a push try something on,after the P&P and effort to get it to me - but I have no qualms about it being sent out again.

Its people who take the pi$$ that QVC should stop.

reading that has made me wonder - do they even look at it? wouldn't surprise me if it didn't go straight back on the shelf and then another label slapped on and sent out without the package being opened.

WHY is Mr Patel ordering (and wearing) women's trousers?

And polyester ones at that? :wonder:
