Please could you share the recipe Twilight. Thanks DG
Have just done that lovely, hope they live up to my praise of them. I found the recipe in a 14 year old booklet from Olive magazine, all the recipes are triple tested & they've always turned out well. Tapping the tray halfway through baking is something Ina Garten does & if it's good enough for her, it's defo good enough for me.

Thank you Twilight will definitely give it a go, need sort out home shopping the ingredients. 😊

Bry's asking if anyone's got a recipe for doggie liver cake? I got one off the net but I must have cocked up because he wouldn't eat it lol. 🐶🐶

So less than truthful Brett is no longer flavour of the month, no pun intended. I had a look at the FAQs on their website & found this:

Do you still sell your pies on QVC UK?
Currently we do not sell our pies on QVC UK.

I assume this is current & he's been ditched.
Wow 😮
I’m so shocked Brett and his pies were apparently the big thing in pies at Q. 😱

Pru Leith (sp) is on the radio at the moment making a banana smoothie, and she said she always uses the skin.

So I am vindicated, as I do too (it can be half the weight of the banana), but everyone I've mentioned this to shakes their head in horror !

Banana skins are full of all sorts of good things that up the antioxidant levels, fight free radicals & reduce the risk of getting cancer. The green ones are the most potent.

I heard that too (the food programme interview with Prue - what a life she’s led...) but she got the idea for using the skin from Dr Rupy (a GP who has pioneered integration of nutrition in medicine) as part of programme they did together on reducing waste...

And of course as so often it’s where half the goodness is and most of the fibre!

But I think I’d need a better blender than I’ve got to deal with banana skin?!

I love mango skin tho, and eat mango with the skin on like an apple! Just need to be careful if you’re allergic to poison ivy bc it has the same chemical in it, apparently!

I hadn't heard of anyone eating or using banana skins, I just decided it was such a waste throwing them away. I usually buy very large ones, and they tend to have thick skins, so I was throwing away half the weight.

I experimented by washing one very carefully, slicing it up, adding milk and making a smoothie with it. It tasted fine, there were no ill effects, so I've been doing this ever since for at least 10 years. Now it seems such a waste to peel a banana and just eat the fruit.

Can you give a hint why he was less than truthful, without getting yourself into trouble👍

Made at the kitchen table by Brett & one or two others, locally sourced ingredients, as good as the ones you remember granny making, stuffed to the crust... Then three years ago it all started to go wrong; different reasons given to explain why they had stopped trading & then the company was liquidated. This had a real impact on the businesses that actually made the products, including one in Cornwall that was their biggest supplier.
