Digital monitors are ok to give a basic idea of blood pressure reading but the aneroid sphygmomanometer (manual machine with stethoscope) is far more accurate. Also you can hear different sounds which is indicative of health.The GP surgeries seem to be really pushing now for everyone to have one at home, I think at ours everyone gets asked if they've got one (unless they're a baby or toddler)!.
We've had one for a while, but old habits die hard and I still feel more reassured if it's taken the old fashioned way by a nurse, as I often wonder just how accurate the machines are. Shock and horror, we didn't 'Ave a buy and get ours from IW, ours came from our local pharmacy too. I'd be worried my arm might explode when I put the cuff on if I'd bought it from IW...
