I'm watching the Festival of Remembrance. Dad took part in the D Day landings, so I always remember him at this time of year.
Completely forgot about that, going to watch from the beginning on the iPlayer. My dad was a child during the war, but he did get called up for National Service.

Dad was very badly injured, and spent over a year in hospital. He was never in good health for the rest of his life, and suffered with depression at times. I suppose it would be called PTSD now. He passed away aged 65 in 1988. He was only 21 when he was injured.
That's very sad, and I can understand how he sometimes suffered from depression, its not just the physical scars that have an effect on health.

I wouldn't buy a thing that drone bore cackles manically about.
I'd be more likely to place an order for a collagen worry angel flogged by Beardy-of-the-Masons.

How annoying must that man be at home - "Imhavingacupoftea-itreallyisthebestdrinkeverinthemorningandit'sflyingdownmythroatbeforetoastthatIeatin20secondsflat

I love good coffee and buy my coffee beans from a local coffee roaster. It’s certainly not cheap but I can make a cup for around 40p. To get an equivalent size/quality from a high street coffee shop would cost around £3.80. It’s not only the cost but the flavour of the coffee. I have a choice of beans and roast/strength when I make my own.

However saying that if I was on a long trip then I would certainly buy a coffee n a motorway service station or on the train.

I remember in the past commuting intercity trains and they’d bring the coffee round in an actual coffee pot, hot milk in a jug and serve in a proper cup and saucer. Delicious coffee too and not too expensive. Then they changed to a coffee & milk tablet stuck in the bottom of a paper cup and poured boiling water on it😱. Absolutely revolting.

Do not get me started on that. Sally Jacks is always selling 'a trouser'. If I was Queen of the World that would be a 50 year prison sentence (hard labour and no parole)🤣. I'm actually a very placid, liberal person but my personality changes when I watch even 10 seconds of this crowd!
You're right, this is becoming increasingly common - is it because the newly-created Campaign for the Rights of Apparel Police (or CR&P, for short) have outlawed the use of plural terms? Does it disadvantage two trouser legs, when each should be treated as an individual? Answers on a postcard, please...

I meant to type Knock Knock, not Knock Out. Here's an example episode with Peter Simon dressed as Crocodile Dundee doing an appalling Aussie accent around the 15m mark:

When Pete said those immortal words 'So what do you want me to do?' I'm surprised nobody told him. (And what was that yellow 3-ply knitting wool doing on his head?)

No real help with the psychological effects then, either. It was assumed you just thought yourself lucky to have survived and get on with it. My Dad would never talk about the bad times, just the funny things (especially if it involved an officer making himself look a bit silly), but he lost several good friends.
